Over on Oregonlive BlazerWookie started a thread asking if Roy should try out for Team USA but I liked this idea so much I decided to hijack it and turn it into a full on rumor. It's a couple of dozen games at most and he'd be a bench player but it would be great to see him get a gold medal.
Why? So he could sit on the bench and collect a gold medal? I mean, I guess it would be nice for Portland fans, but I really doubt Team USA is going to allow him to even try out for the team. Realistically, it just seems like it's pie-in-the-sky dreaming, which is fine, but is it even remotely a possibility?
If Roys knees are better and he can shake off the rust he still would have one hell of a time getting a spot
If Roy's knees are "better" then I, for one, will no longer have my man-crush on BRoy. He should be suiting up earning his millions with the Blazers. From an emotional standpoint, if doctors were to say, "Roy, you have fifteen games left on those knees, and then you are done." I'd love to see him go for the gold.
Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. Play ball, motherfucker!!
Roy's knees won't get "better". Any use he puts on them will jeopardize his long-term health. It's up to him though if he wants to add wear and tear, and how much.
