Seriously, how pathetic do you have to be to not manage even one measly assist in 39 minutes of playing time? When guys like Craig Smith and JJ Hickson are out assisting you in less minutes.

Anyone care to go on BBR and look up some similar statlines? I'm sure Derek Fisher is up there.

He's not a point guard and definitely not the PGotF. It's too bad since he showed a little promise after Nate got fired, but he hasn't made too much progress since.

I'm super pissed at him. I almost started three other threads about this very topic.

Are the Blazers even running an offense at this point in time?

I said it in the "worst season ever" thread and I think this has been a season for answers ... go ahead and tick off the little box next to "no" under Smith's name.

I thought Smith may be more "6th man of the future". He showed some offensive skills tonight, but there is a long way to go with him.

Babbitt, on the other hand, is an NBA player.

When Bayless started getting time in his second year, we said the same thing about him. After a while he responded by getting some assists. As for Smith, a late first round pick PG doesn't spread his wings until his third year.

Smith moved the ball well enough. Guys simply didn't make shots off some of his passes, or he would have had 4-5 assists. I thought he played well last night

It's against the laws of nature, man and government, for stats to lie. And stats show he had 0 assists, so obviously he's a horrible player who will never amount to a hill of beans.

It is pretty obvious that if a middle 1st round pick doesn't show promise in his rookie year, he's an absolute bum and proof the team wasted their pick. I mean shit, look at the loser they drafted last year. That guy was called the "human white flag" soon into his first year. He never amounted to a hill of beans, and was a wasted pick. And on top of that they traded a SURE THING in Martel Webster for him!

Everyone, grab your torches, we're on a hunt! We just got our new target!!

I think Smith will get a raw deal here because most of us wanted Manimal, and he is playing so well. Smith will be a solid back up combo guard in this league. Nothing great, but nothing to hate on

Ha, you missed the memo, mm. If the team you root for passes over the player you wanted, you MUST hate the player they drafted instead.

Smith has a long way to go before I would consider him a solid backup in the league. I don't think he'll stick more than 3 years.

Damon had his career high (and franchise high) 54 points with 0 assists, against New Orleans I believe.

His rookie stats are very similar to the rookie stats for Chauncy Billups, Steve Blake and Derek Fisher, He is putting up 11/4/4 in 36 minutes and shooting .324 from 3........And that includes his time under Nate

Of course it's way early to write Smith completely off ... but it's awfully hard to get excited about the guy when I watch him. He doesn't appear particularly gifted as an athlete or a passer or even a shooter. I guess we'll see what happens.

I agree with this. PG's in the NBA generally don't blossom for a few seasons. It's also too easy to point to one game and trash a player. That said, I'm not high on Nolan either, but he may end up being a serviceable backup PG in due time.

All with a PER of 6.64.

Smith was a garbage pick. All I hear about is how he's a rookie, but he's almost 24 years old. He's limited in terms of upside, and has no NBA level skills. Sure it's early to be writing him off, but I'm sticking to my guns. He's another Armon Johnson or Taurean Green in terms of impact. The Blazers should cut their losses soon enough.

By the same logic, LaMarcus Aldridge will never have an NBA future. He's had games where he only got 2 or 3 rebounds.
