Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects Is anyone else bothered by Sullinger's (only) 9 boards/game? Milsap, Randolph and Love were all much better rebounders. You would think at his size he should be pulling down >10. Aldridge had more rebounds in his last year than Sullinger. He seems more like a Sean May pick.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects For PG prospects, how hard is it to project if they will translate to the NBA game? For example (Re: comparison to Kendall Marshall) some non-combo guard comparisons: John Stockton (soph): 11.2 PPG | 5.0 APG | 3.1 TO | 39 MPG Chris Paul (soph): 15.3 PPG | 6.6 APG | 33.4 MPG Deron Williams (soph): 14.0 PPG | 6.2 APG | 33.9 MPG Andre Miller (soph): 9.8 PPG | 6.1 APG | 29.5 MPG Kendall Marshall (soph): 8.1 PPG | 9.8 APG | 2.8 TO | 33.0 MPG
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects I would be pretty happy to get Marshall. He does have some question marks, but making his teammates better isn't one of them. I think his outside shot is underrated. Speed in a PG isn't the end all.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects Andre Miller schoolin' opposing PGs for the past decade is proof of this!
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects His court vision is more Rubio than Miller IMO. His size is more Deron Williams than Miller, too.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects Most of my favorite PG play is in the half court, or leading the break early. Not as big a fan of the PG who keeps the ball all the way to the rim and then passes. Would rather see them use their vision early and make the good pass. FWIW, I just hit MKG and Marshall on ESPN draft simulator. I can't imagine a result much better than that.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects Close down the thread! This is what I just got! Problem solved I guess......
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects To add to this list: Steve Nash (soph): 14.6 PPG | 3.7 APG | 2.8 TO | 29.9 MPG Career: 4.5 APG

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects Sullinger pulled down 12 rpg per 40 (pace adjusted) and 13.4 is frosh year. For comparison, Love was at 14.8 his 1 year at UCLA, LaMarcus was 11rpg his last year at Texas.

He should take a page out of Eric Snow's book of defense: Learn to take away angles before the opponent can make his move. With his feel for the game I think he could be able to do this.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects If we keep at least one of our picks i really like the idea of getting Marshal. Dream scenario would be moving into the top 3 and picking MKG/Beal/Davis then drafting Marshal. Just thinking of that has made me go change my pants... at least its that idea or the fact Diablo 3 beta just finished Dling, not sure which.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects It's looking like we will have to take Marshall with the NJ pick if we really want him. I don't think he'll last past Utah at 8 (if we do, in fact, end up with the 7th pick)
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects tl;dr Actually, I agree with you. But I want Marshall too. I'm of the opinion that rather than focusing on the preponderance of post players, we might be better off getting two guards with our picks--Marshall, and a SG who can be a top-line scorer. I think Rivers is probably that guy.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects Huh? How can you pull rebound numbers out of 40 min, when they don't play that many minutes and you have no idea how they would do with fitness and foul trouble. Bottom line is that was not even in the top 30 in college. Now, maybe he was having an off year, or there was something in their system, but rebounding is one thing that translates very closely in the NBA. Top rebounders remain top rebounders. Mid-level rebounders remain mid-level. I don't like the idea of a relatively short heavy/wide 4/5 who is a mid-level rebounder. Would you be happy drafting him and getting 8 boards a game from him? I wouldn't--not next to LMA. That could make the lowest rebounding 4/5 tandem in the league.
Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects It does look like this. It might be a reach, or it might not. Depends on how he develops. At this point a few years ago, Westbrook was considered a reach in a similar position. He rightfully moved up the board and we all know how that ended. I don't like the way the draft looks to be falling if we end up with the fixed draft positions (about 7 and about 11). We miss the three skilled bigs, and are left with a bunch of wing players and backcourt tweeners, that all have some issues. I sure hope they try to convert the NJ pick into a #4 or #5 somehow. If not, then I'm all for combining them if you can get one of #2-4 somehow.
