    What is OKC situation when it comes to contracts?

    Durant and Westbrook have max deals. Perkins got a fat extention and is about 7-8 million/yr. Then they have Harden and Ibaka to deal with? Did Sefolosha get paid or he is unrestricted FA this summer?

    I think Durant, Westbrook and Perkins alone almost gets them close to the cap.

    Have you forgotten how much you love to compare PER to usage rate? Westbrook has a usage rate of over 32 to get his 22.9 PER, whereas Harden's usage of 21.6 is almost equal to his PER. Yet you're going to use PER to ridicule the suggestion that Harden is the better player?

    OKC is going to have to make a decision on Harden either this summer or before the trade deadline. If they let him go RFA, he will get a max contract from a team. If, as Rasta thinks, they view either Durant or Westbrook as their 3rd best player, then that player may be available for a trade. I find that laughable, but hell, whatever.

    Westbrook is the better player, IMO. He can dominate games, although that can be a hindrance at times to his team. Still, he's young, developing, and seems to be a special player.

    Shot at me aside, are you saying Harden is more important to OKC than Westbrook? Is Westbrook their 3rd-best player? I've always added the caveat that 20+ PER players with a high Usage rate are still productive.

    If I were OKC, I'd trade Westbrook(sure to get a good return), and keep Harden over him.

    That's not a bad idea. He'd be worth more in return, simply due to his contract and talent. Harden's trade value is skewed against OKC right now due to his contract.

    Harden jumped from a 16 PER to a 21 PER this year. I'm not sure I'd jump at that and give him a max deal.

    Harden is the easier player to trade because of his contract.

    Oh, OK. I guess time will tell. I'd hate to be the one making the decision, but I'd lean Westbrook, at least in terms of having the better career.

    Westbrook, IMO, has the better physical tools to be an All-Star caliber player in the NBA for a longer period, but he's also got significant headcase issues. I'd love to pry Harden away from the Thunder.

    At a max contract? That's the key question. Harden's never even been a starter in the NBA in any consistent manner. He's started 7 out of 222 career games, and only played 31 mpg this season, which was his first season over 27 mpg.

    Russell Westbrook has never played under 32.5 mpg in his career, and that was his rookie season.

    Agreed. If they'd've traded Westbrook for Paul they'd be favorites for a championship.

    I don't think a simple Westbrook for Rondo trade would necessarily work for the Thunder, though, because Harden functions like a Brandon Roy, so wouldn't work well with a PG who is only useful with the ball in his hands. Perhaps a trade with Houston for Kyle Lowry + ?

    However, I think they'll make it work. If a player is let go to keep costs low it will be Ibaka, who is overrated at this point. He's a stellar shot-blocker, but as Spain and Real Madrid discovered, he has major limitations. For about Perkins money he's worth it, but another team is likely to overpay.

    Couldn't you say similar things about Manu Ginobili? Of course, people wildly underrate him, too.
    Also: Steve Nash didn't even start his first year in the league. What a bum!

    OKC is 15-1 when Harden scores 20 points or more. I'd say he's pretty important to their success.

    He's 22 years old, a year younger than Westbrook. He's got roughly 3 more years until he even enters his prime.

    Also .23 WS per 48, same as Durant.
    I don't think he's very obtainable, but out of possibilities(excluding guys like Durant, Lebron, etc.) he's probably one of the top players I want in the league.
