I see the similarities between he and Miller.

    I like Larry Miller's approach

Pretending they're just doing their due diligence instead of actually scrambling to find a GM.

I compare it to finding your wife. You dont put a ring on the first girl you date. You take your time and find the right girl, a girl that you can spend the rest of your life with. The Blazers are taking their time to find the perfect GM, they dont want to make the same mistakes they have in the past (Nash, KP, Cho).

Did we once again finish second to Chicago in attendance? I'm thinking that Blazer bandwagon is not as empty as some would like to think......

As promised during the lockout, I did not give them a penny last season, for the first time in I don't know when. I went to one game, for free, and then only to hang out with an old friend. Their incompetence in keeping McMulligan for 7 years is eclipsed only by their cluster fuck revolving door, and since then locked door, to the GM position. What a joke.

Except this isn't a lifetime commitment we're talking about ... it's a business filling a vacant position; and FYI there is no such thing as a "perfect GM," the goal should be to find a good one (and that doesn't take over a year for 29 other NBA teams).

Trying to use women to compare anything will not work with this group. Like asking a blind person what a sunset looks like........

Come on. Don't diss HCP's wife like that.

I mean.... I know she's easy. But she still has standards that are above most of the clowns on this board.

(Yes, VERY shocking I know.... after all, she did marry HCP. But she told me that was the first and last time she ever really went slummin' THAT low.)

Are you saying that the other 29 teams all have good GMs?

and do all 29 other teams have a qualified "interim" GM to fill the role to allow the them to take their time and find the right guy for the job?

I just don't think PA and Miller want a GM. And why would they. The blazers are Paul's toy, and without a GM he has even more fun ranking the draftees and planning the future. I bet he understands that eventually, a GM is useful because there is a lot of work to get done, but over the short term, it's time to party!

Of course not, but I'd say most teams have guys that are competent enough to do their job ... luck and uncontrollable variables play a huge role in the success or failure of teams.

Qualified? How has Buchanan demonstrated anything even remotely resembling competence as a talent evaluator or move maker? Let's assume he's ben given a measure of autonomy to make moves since KP got fired and he got elevated to his current role: Trading Miller for Felton? Drafting Smith, Babbitt, Williams, Diebler? Signing Crawford? Meh.

You can compare it to marriage, but I'll compare it to the GM searches that other teams in the NBA do. Firing a GM after less than a year and then taking a year to replace him is a bad idea. It is a bad idea using common sense and it is a bad idea based on that fact that no other NBA teams do it.

If the Blazers had even squeaked into the playoffs, I could see the argument that the process to this point has had some success. As it is, the team that was assembled was lacking in talent and potential. It's hard to expect anything other than more of the same.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful team
That started with this tragic man
    Named Paul Gardner Allen.

The mate was a weaseley sales man,
    The owner too hands on.
Rich Cho was set free one day
    For a 365 day con, a 365 day con.

    The weather started getting rough,
Paul Allen was a bad boss.
If not for the love of the faithful fans
The Blazers would be lost, the Blazers would be lost.

The team set up a GM search without a clue to be found
    With Larry
    Paul Allen too,
Bert Kolde and and the Vulcans,
    Chad Buchanan
They have no clue, what to do
    Here at one center court.
