    I will take a crack at it.

    Pfund's story is only half the story. The other half might go something like this: "We brought him in, but it was obvious from the start that he wasn't suitable. Everything that came out of his mouth was either stupid, or completely contrary to the direction Paul wanted to take the team, or both. He presented a ridiculous list of conditions and demands before we'd even gotten a chance to get to know each other. He acted like a flaming asshole, and frankly, we couldn't get him out of the office fast enough. I fully expect him to whine to the press about how he was the best man for the job but we weren't smart enough to see that."

    Or not. I certainly don't have any inside info.

    HCP generally seems like a reasonable, fair fan. Unfortunately, like Barrett, he's tainted by his employment, so he has to be a bit partial. I think he'd be more "real" and less of an apologist if he didn't have the job he has.

    Not sure what Bobo's excuse is, though...

    I'm not a management apologist but I like facts and frankly we have almost none. Barrett does have a point; the fact that the Blazers are not issuing public announcements doesn't mean nothing is going on. In fact the standard corporate model is to announce a hire, not every interview. Fact, none of us know what is happening behind the scenes, including Crapanzo. Could be a lot, could be nothing, we just don't know. As for Pfund, a not very impressive coach, it sounds like he got your basic screening interview. Usually those are done over the phone but they happen in person as well. Screen out the candidates who clearly are not what you want, get the list down to 2 or 3 good ones, then do extensive interviews. Again, may or may not be what is actually happening. We just don't have facts.

    So until I get some facts I'm not going to send my blood pressure sky high or sit up all night with insomnia over what maybe is or is not going on. And definitely not over what Crapanzo or Jaynes say about what they don't know.

    Funny how I'm viewed here. I have never given my opinion on management since KP left. Just because I work for the team I am branded. I have been a fan since I was a child and my parents took me to games at the MC. I am a fan with a positive outlook, always have been. Just because I don't come on here and blast coaches and owners and players left and right, my opinion shouldn't hold any lesser value. I'm not going to apologize for being a glass half full type fan.

    Yep. I brought this up in another thread. That is great news since the Blazers seem to be in no hurry to do anything on either the coach or GM front. Maybe they are waiting to see if they can offer Scott Brooks a Nate like contract to pry him away from OKC? I hope not, but they might

    This is the crux of the issue with Buchanan...either he is a bad evaluator of talent...or he gets run roughshod in the war room by his owner, or worse, members of his entourage...

    EITHER way, that is why he should not be a GM....
