I'm just shocked that Pritchard is even getting any kind of interest from Orlando for their GM spot. Welcome to my nightmare.
Somebody find the link to the draft day thread from BFF. WOuld love to see how many people were unhappy about us drafting Greg. Bet there weren't many.
It's pretty bad but I can't imagine what Seattle fans are going through. They didn't just lose their team -- they lost a potential dynasty.
There wasn't a GM in the league that would not have taken Oden with the #1 pick. Fact. If the ping-pong balls floated the other way, Seattle would have picked Oden. Hindsight is 20/15 in this case, but blaming KP, PA, or anyone in the Blazer Organization for what happened is ridiculous.
Anyone that says they would have taken Durant #1 at that time is a dirty liar. That draft was the Oden draft through and through.
My brother is in Seattle and used to split season tickets for the Sonics. I was at his house with the family over Memorial Day, and he literally refused to put on Game 1 of the OKC/San Antonio series. He stopped following the NBA.
I loved the Oden pick and, unless there was evidence that he had serious and chronic injury risk moving forward, I think it was a good pick. He was the best player at a position of scarcity and he was the best prospect. It didn't work out, of course, but that doesn't mean it was a bad pick. Ed O.
I'd say it was about 97% Oden. I knew a few people who wanted Durant. They weren't huge Portland fans, so I thought they were haters, but those same peeps are total Portland fans now, so I think they were legit. BRoy+LA+KD = Wage+LBJ+Bosh????? Perhaps, and Roy would still be playing.
We tried to get Durant to sign his Blazer jersey when we were there a couple seasons ago. He flat out smiled and said, "Nope. All you had to do was draft me."
