After watching the Celtics vs. Miami series; I have decided that we should not pursue Rondo. Even if it's a possibility, he is not the answer IMO. He just cannot score at will and his mid range shooting is streaky at best. He has no outside shot and seems to believe he's a good shooter. What we need is a solid gun. Someone that can create their shot; but more importantly, someone that has deadly range. It's nice to get others involved; which I believe is a very strong case for Rondo; but we need that guy that keeps the D honest and allows Aldridge to have room down low. My money goes to Dragic or Nash. Since I think Nash is a little too old for our team; I suspect our sights are set on Dragic. Unless of course; we draft a young PG and have a player like Nash teach and run the offense a couple years until that player gets his ears wet. My two cents.
Thank you , Mags The dregs that are this years class of point guards arenot the answer as well. we see what happens when you have a short speedball trys to drive into the trees. Then when the shot fails from range... An established Point is the way to go.
Yes. We don't want a guy who put up Magic numbers and essentially single-handedly led his decrepit team to 8 minutes away from the finals.
As much fun as it is to make fun of Mags, he's certainly correct that Rondo has a hole in his game with his streaky outside shooting. I'd take him in a heart beat, but I can't help but think how totally unstoppable he'd be if he could just develop a consistent outside shot.
forget nash Mags the new GM has already dissed that as he does not fit with the age requirements of a 2-3 yr rebuild/retool. My guess is that we either draft Lillard who appears the best shooter/creator in this draft or we sign Dragic.
I'd take Rondo in a heartbeat, but I wonder how he's going to look when he's not flanked by 3 hall-of-famers? He's not exactly known as the most coachable guy
Yeah, Rondo does have a hole in his game. But he's not the first star player with that problem. If you don't want one of the top PG's in the league, you're absolutely nuts. Who is better that we can go out and get? (Yes, we can talk about D-Will, the FA - but you get my point - if you can get Rondo, you get him because he is one of the best PG's in the league.)
Agreed to an extent. I really think he put a lot on himself and has extended the careers of the other 3 guys (or at least extended the time that they've played at their respective performance levels).
When Rondo stands next to Wade, Rondo looks like a midget. I mean dwarf. I mean elf. I mean little person. I mean retard. There, that sounds better. Rondo is supposedly 6-1 and slight of build. He won't fit into McMillan's system and may not complement Roy.
As I said in my post, I'd happily take Rondo and live with his weak outside shooting. He more than makes up for that deficiency with the rest of his game. That said, I'd say the chances of Boston letting him go are slim to non-existent.
Yeah, I agreed with your post - was just expanding on it in support of it. As for Boston letting Rondo go.... I also agree on that. I could have seen it BEFORE the playoffs. After his performance, no way do they let him go. Which is why while I would completely support the pursuit of Rondo, it's just not realistic. No my dream ends here (Maybe in 8 years when he's on his last legs).
