Honk 7 times: Lillard/Meyers Honk 12 times: Drummond/Marshall My real answer is Drummond/Lillard. I'd be pretty happy if we got Drummond at 6 and then could trade up from 11 to get Lillard. Then again I'm looking at the nbadraft.net mock draft and the idea of a Lillard / Waiters back court is growing on me.
There are so many interesting bigs that should be on the board at 11. Not sure which one I would prefer, but we could see Sullinger, Leonard, Jones, Moultire, Zeller and a couple others. But Lillard and whichever big the blazer brass falls for most.
I'm not the smartest person in the room about college players, but I have serious reservations about Drummond. It's totally just a hunch; I'm not claiming anything other than being gunshy about yet another underachieving college center who was The Next Big Thing out of high school. So gunshy.
It's a really tough call. I actually can't make up my mind. One gets us a probable decent NBA center and another worthless PG, the other a probable starting PG and stiff at center.
Tough call. The real choice is Lillard v. Drummond. I go back and forth. I do believe Lillard has it all to be a very good PG in this league. Drummond could be an all-star, if he can get motivated. How much of his lack of motor is him v. the environment he played in last year is not clear. Watching this years playoffs makes me think I would take Lillard. When you have several guys who are quick and can score, you get get by with a serviceable and tough center. Going inside out with LMA and Lillard would be fun to watch, and could be tough to defend. I like Marshall too, but as pinwheel points out you now have two starters who can't really score. I don't like that.
I would be dissapointed with either option. I don't want Marshall or Meyers at 11. I'm hoping one of Robinson, MKG, Beal, Barnes is available at 6 for us to get. If those options arn't available I think I would lean towards Lillard over Drummond. If we are going to take on a project like Drummond we should think about trading away LaMarcus and do a full long term rebuild. If we want to make playoff runs in the next few years during LaMarcus' prime we need a more NBA ready player then Drummond.
