HoopsHype @hoopshype Rumors: Suns to pursue Gordan Dragic? + Maurice Williams done with Clippers? http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm :drama: :suspense: How can there not be a damn smiley for drama or suspense? How can I add a duh duh duh without it sounding like I am mocking someone as No duh?
Sean Deveney @SeanDeveney #Suns will pursue Goran Dragic, which is good bc he tells Sporting News he has fond memories of PHX:
Sean Deveney @SeanDeveney Dragic tells SN his first choice is the #Rockets. But: "Definitely, I want to be a starter in the NBA. I know I can be a first point guard."
This is down in your neck of the woods, what's the buzz on Drajic? Do you think he will take teh most money offered to him or will he likely stay in Houston if they offer a fair amount? (Assuming Houston assure Drajic the starting gig)
Local radio here thinks they will let his agent know they will re-sign him for a certain dollar amount and deal Lowry on draft night
I would have to believe then that Lowry is definitely gone, he is not going to be happy if Dragic signs, better to trade Lowry draft night then when he really starts complaining after they sign Dragic
Would Dragic choose Portland over Phoenix or Houston? Only if we offered a shit load more money. in other words if we way over paid for him. So for all of you who want to pass on a PG in the draft and focus on a free agent to fill this position, be prepared to get a Aaron Brooks or a DJ Augistin. (And maybe over paying for them as well. I find myself falling deeper and deeper into the Lillard camp at # 6. I am not totally sure that is the right pick, but if it is between him and Drummond I say go small.
Maybe talking with some agents, Olshey is discovering it might be best to draft a PG rather than settle on choice D
I agree the only way to get Drajic is offer more money than any other team . . . but I don't think it takes a shit load more money, maybe just an extra million /yr for 4 years???
Good point. What do you think will be the initial offers? 11-12 million a year? So we would have to offer about 13 million a year? Good luck making that amount and not feeling the wrath of the home team fans when you don't play like you are paid. That extra pressure he will get by simply accepting the offer is often the kiss of death to a player. When it isn't really their fault.

I don't know enough to make a good guess on what Dragic's market rate is. 13 mil/yr sounds like a shocking number to me when it comes to Drajic. But one of the few advantages that Ptd has is a owner who can be aggressive with contracts and if Drajic priority is financial security, Blazers got a shot. Don't know if it the right move, but a move the Blazers can make (if Dragic main priority is money)
Just like the year we had capspace in 2008 (I think that's right?) the free agent crop was really anemic and thus Hedo got paid 11 million a year. Dragic plays at much more important position, he's far younger and so he's also going to command a lot of money he might not in a deeper pool of talent.
Do you really think his market number is 11-12 million per? Isn't the max 14 per? There is no way he is even close to a near max deal. This is the stupidity that created the lockout and sadly these owners will go right back to doing what got them in trouble in the first place.
Ryan Wolstat: Nash has tough call to make: Comfort and money = Phoenix; Close to kids but way less money = NY. Close to parents and money = PDX ... 4 minutes ago
If Dragic makes more then 8m a season then whoever pays him is going to commit suicide when the new CBA kicks in.
