My sense is #Blazers higher on Lillard. MT @chadfordinsider If Blazers opt for Lillard over Drummond, he could slide to Warriors or Pistons.

That would be sweet: essentially we traded Gerald for a younger, better version.

God I hope all this "Blazers want Lillard" stuff is a huge smokescreen.

Nothing really. I would have posted it had anything other than what the tweets already said

So pessimistic - are you off your meds today?

Or did the pizza delivery guy tell you this?

I have been on the Blazers will trade their picks bandwagon since we got the picks. Nothing has changed for me

Pizza guy would have absolutely no idea about that anyway

So if it goes Davis, Barnes, Beal Ford has no idea what's going on. Good to know.

Why is this pessimistic? Compare Iguodala with #6 picks from previous drafts:

    2011: Jan Vesely
    2010: Ekpe Udoh
    2009: Johnny Flynn
    2008: Danilo Gaillinari
    2007: Yi Jianlian
2006: Brandon Roy (okay. But maybe he fell because of his knees?)
    2005: Martell Webster (yay!)
    2004: Josh Childress
    2003: Chris Kaman
    2002: Dajuan Wagner

I'm telling you: the odds are not good. The #6 pick is a TRAP!

Now, of course, Iguodala was a later pick (#9, 3 picks after Childress) but that was LUCK. We're all in draft pick frenzy where we're thinking that all these guys are awesome. The fact is that possibly 4 will be special, and we don't know which 4. So the pick is a gamble. Iguodala isn't.

Actually, I found one thing fairly interesting. Barnes has not worked out for Portland according to the article. We have heard bits and pieces that the Blazers like him. Could he be the double secret workout?

    OR...

If it goes Davis, Robinson, Beal, Barnes the Kings will choose MKG, leaving us Lillard v. Drummond
If it goes Davis, Barnes, Beal, then CLE will pass on Robinson for MKG, Kings get Robinson, leaving us Lillard v. Drummond
If it goes Davis, Beal then WAS is screwed. They're set at PF with Nene, SF with Ariza and backup PF/SF with Vesely and Seraphin. They really need a shooting guard, and really DON'T need MKG, Robinson or Barnes. Good trade potential, I think, b/c 6+11 is the best package they'll get offered. For giggles they might take Drummond and sit him behind Nene and Okafor and hope he develops, but I don't think you can wait-and-hope if you're WAS. That'd be the best thing for us, b/c CLE takes Barnes, SAC takes either Robinson or MKG and we get the other.

Iguadala would make all kinds of sense for this roster if they really are committed to building around Nic and LMA. Move Wesley to the bench and play him at the 2 and let him create, flanked by Nic and maybe a free agent shooting type point guard picked up in free agency (Mo Williams?) Then take Arnett Moultrie at 11 or try to move the pick and a player for a later pick and center (the rumored Houston-Dalembert deal for instance). I find I'm increasingly ambivalent about keeping the picks, but it won't bother me if they do.

Whatever. So long as the moves make some kind of sense strategically and tactically I can live with the results and at least I won't have to suffer through another year of Failton and Crawful -- it's all a step up in my opinion.

So basically we need to figure out what SAC wants to flip picks or hope that CHA, CLE, WAS or SAC are idiots enough to pick Drummond for his upside. Guh.

    LOL

I love Barnes, and think he will a very good pro player. I would be delighted if we got him at 6 or got him without overpaying

I just wish he wasn't one of those "all hat, no cattle" kind of prospects. He was massively underwhelming when it really mattered in the tournament.

Yeah, I know you've been thinking that for some time (as have I - even if they stay in the draft, I don't expect them to be picking at least at #6).

Iggy is just a downer to me, so that's why I called you pessimistic. I'd deal #11 for him, though.
