Do we have Bayless to thank for our bright future? Bayless went to NOLA for a first round pick......... which we sent to the Bobcats for GW.......... which we sent to NJ for the #6 pick in one of the deepest drafts in a long time. In a weird roundabout way, we can thank Rex right? Weird how that works...... I love how trades work like that. Like if you look at Detroit and how they got the #2 pick in the LeBron/Mello draft even though they were one of the top teams in the league. In 1997 the Pistons sent Otis Thorpe to Vancouver for a future first round pick which ended up being 6 years later! Or how about this, How in the fuck did the world champion Lakers get the #1 pick in the draft? .......
Funny, we trade bayless for the pick, the pick for gw, gw for 6, and then draft Lillard(Bayless) with 6. The circle of life.
Lillard is Bayless on steroids. At some point we will keep trading up on steroid riddled point guards to get us a HOFer
I wish we still had Bayless tbh. I know he helped get us pick 6 and thats awesome. Wouldn't trade that for anything. But, Bayless put up a near 18 PER season last year and shot 42% from 3. He averaged 11 ppg and 4 apg in 22 mpg.
Don't forget we traded Jarrett Jack for the pick that became Bayless. So I say trade the #6 for Jack.
Bayless would NOT be awesome. Bayless is still the player he always was, and we need a point guard. The only reason Bayless got any minutes for the Raptors was because of Calderon's injuries.
If Bayless played at Saramento State (Big Sky) instead of UA I think he would have averaged 30+PPG -- and then conveniently play against non-lotto talent at the combine to "prove self" and then proceed to schedule solo, one-on-none workouts he would have gone #2. Easily. EASILY.
Huh? The Raptors were 10-14 with Bayless playing 15 or more minutes in a game. A winning percentage of 42% The Raptors the entire season? 23-43. A winning percentage of 35%. Yes they were a losing team but that can't be blamed on Bayless. The entire team isn't great. DeRozan hasn't become the player they thought, neither has Ed Davis. Bargnani is a decent player but not a world changer.
Their comments say that Toronto fans are not enthralled with Bayless. As we used to, they see through his stats because they actually watch the 1-trick-pony play.
He is no longer a 1 trick pony. He averaged 4 apg in 22 mpg (per 36 this is about 7apg, Westbrook averaged 5.5 apg with a better team in 35 mpg) and shot 42% from 3 last year.
