    Nobody likes the Texas Rangers.

Except as their doormat in the World Series.

    That is all.

wait...so the choices are a 6'4 shooting guard who could be Wade Junior but who may or may not be able to shoot and couldn't start on his college team, a 7' big man who hasn't really improved in 3 years, fades in big games and we're not sure really likes basketball, and a SF/PF who may or may not have the ability to get his shot off OR put the ball on the floor and get by his man OR play D at the NBA level? Oh yeah, and our two best players are at PF and SF.

You're right. How could I think those choices are risky?

May I make a modest suggestion? As this thread is 192 pages and counting, during the actual draft Thursday can we start a new Draft In Process thread? It is getting a tad unwieldly. Mods?

    Terrible idea.

You don't have to read through the entire thread visit to get to the end/current page - you know that right? :MARIS61:

Drummond. Although I would be fine with Waiters.

Plan is to have a "last minute rumors" thread Wednesday, and then a "draft" thread on Thursday night like a game thread--starting around 2 hrs before (if not already posted).

Can we make sure every thread is properly titled with "THE OFFICIAL..."?

Players of whom I already thought what the scout said:
    BAD:
Barnes: "I can't figure him out. I want him to be better than he is"
Perry Jones: "how do you have that skill set and be that inconsistent? Over 82 games, there will be 30 where you're going to wonder if he's even on your team. He is who he is. He makes plays that take your breath away, and then he disappears for a while. You see him get his ass kicked by Kevin Jones or Thomas Robinson or Jeff Withey and you wonder when things are going to click."
Terrence Jones: "Whoever drafts him is going to have to keep a thumb on him, because he's not a self-starter. That's a problem at this level."
Rivers: ""My biggest concern with him is size. He's never going to be a pure point because it's not in his personality. He's a capable passer, but he hasn't been a willing passer."
Robinson: "I don't know if he's an all-star" (yeah, it's not very bad)

    GOOD:
Barton: "I'm a fan. Tough kid, high energy, he can dribble and pass, and he can rebound well for a little guy. I think he likes to win. He cares. His skinny body worries me a little bit, but he just figures out a way to compete out there."
Beal: "He's also a great kid, almost presidential." (!)
Harkless: "Two years from now, we might be saying, 'Wow, that guy was picked 20th?'"
Sullinger: "He's as good a basketball player as there is in the draft."
Jeff Taylor: "He doesn't do anything off-the-charts well, but he does everything really well. He's a terrific athlete. He can almost guard four positions because he's so damn strong."
Waiters: ""I'm a big fan. He's Dwyane Wade-ish. I don't know if he's pure enough to be a two, but he's just a baller. And he definitely has a little toughness in him. The only drawback is he's a little small, but he's thick, and he's a surly guy. He'll be an East Coast version of Rodney Stuckey. I would take him over Jeremy Lamb five times a day."
Zeller: "Everybody complains they can never find a center. Well, here he is. There's absolutely no scenario where he's not going to succeed." (wow!)

Players where what the scout said made me question my view:
    BAD: (i.e., I liked them, he's lukewarm)
Crowder: "For a mid-second-round guy, he's not bad. I don't know quite what his NBA skill is other than he plays hard."
Draymond Green: ""I'm not feeling [him]. I think he's an average athlete. He has a high I.Q. and he's coachable, so he'll survive for a while. He has versatility, can really handle the ball, and his shot's not broken."
Henson: "I worry about kids who have high centers of gravity, because that usually means they have poor balance."
MKG: "He needs to work on his shooting and his ballhandling is just average." (I mean, I knew that, but he doesn't rave at all)
Machado: "He's a second-round pick. The system he played in at Iona made him look pretty good."
O'Quinn: "He's a poor man's Kurt Thomas" (I think this was meant as a compliment!)

GOOD: (i.e., he likes them more than me)
Jeremy Lamb: ""That kid can really play. His facial appearance and body language makes it appear that he doesn't care, but he does." (but notice how he'd take Waiters over him five times a day)
Lillard: "the most unselfish scoring point guard I have ever seen"
Ross: "Maybe the biggest sleeper in the draft"

    I have an idea...

Have a thread where ONLY breaking news links/quotes are posted and then discussed in the regular draft thread. Easier to sift through.

Yes, I know that. But this thread is about draft speculation/rumors/hopes so I suggested a new one on the actual draft in process. Obviously it's a suggestion, if people want to combine them all into a superthread I can't stop anyone.
