Yeah blazeredge is reporting it... http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/7/1...xecs-visit-pacers-rfa-c-roy-hibbert-on-july-1
I think this is fantastic! Now sign & trade Batum and Meyers L. to NOH for Gordon - - or package these two to Memphis for Rudy Gay. Now I just have to wait three days with hopes our offer doesn't get matched by the Pacers.
Have to wait longer then that...contracts can't be signed until the 10th and then 3 days after that for them to match. What will be interesting will be the details of the offer. Will Portland try to be creative with the structure to make it harder for Indiana to match. They can offer a lot of cash up front, near $18 million up front.
Hey, I'm with you. I'm not even a Blazers fan, and I'd feel bad for ya'll if the deal went through. I was actually wondering tonight, "Which player and what team is going to over-pay in this year's mediocre free agent class?" I knew it was inevitable that some team would get stuck with a sh*tty contract. I just figured that it'd happen at the end of free agency, not this soon.
I'd still be pretty excited, though. The west is kind of wide open after OKC. *Contingent on re-signing Batum
Y'all serious? Hibbert not worth the max? Maybe he is worth slightly less, but we will have to overpay to get someone decent. And his PER was 20. And he averaged 13/9/2 on a very, very balanced Indiana team, and damn near helped the Pacers beat the champion Heat. Higher PER than Gasol and Chandler. C'mon. And we keeping Batum, if we get Hibbert. Lillard Wes Batum Aldridge Hibbert Solid.
To me.... We're saying Lillard, Batum, LA, Hibbert. Plus whatever SG and bench we can manage. 4-5 year run. Depending on how Lillard steps in, I like it. That could be a tough lineup. We can make it happen financially.
For the record, I know we have Wes but i think he's a perfect sixth man if this is our lineup. EWill or someone else starts at SG
Why don't you list Williams, Smith, Barton and Babbitt? Yeah Smith and Babbitt kinda suck but Williams and Barton are wildcards and they will all likely get some playing time throughout the season.
Apparently they're still meeting with Gordon this week. Would much rather try to S&T Batum, whom they have their eye on. PG: Lillard SG: Gordon SF: Claver* PF: Aldridge C: Hibbert
I'm actually excited for this move. Hibbert is a good defensive center who actually has an offensive game. He has a lot of trouble when he gets doubled but with LMA/Batum/Lillard its going to be hard to double him. I don't like this move if we lose Batum and as for Rudy Gay, talk about an overhyped and paid player. The guy just isn't worth his contract and I wouldn't take him over batum at all.
First off, which Gasol? Secondly, PER's are pretty misleading statistics to use, especially for centers. What makes you think that Hibbert won't put up the same numbers with the same stellar PER for the Blazers? Lastly, Indiana was a balanced team... but do you think that if they had a center who was worth MAX money, they'd run a balanced offense? If they had a center worth MAX money, they wouldn't run a "balanced" offense. Indiana is only contending for Hibbert's MAX salary because they don't want to ruin the good thing they had going in the Eastern conference, where it's a lot easier to make a run to the finals than in the West. It's just as hard to build a contender in a city like Indianapolis as it is in Portland, and they're starting to reach a point where they can make another run, because of how thin the East is. They're not offering Hibbert money because they think he's worth it as an individual, but moreso they don't want to lose a big piece of their core that can make a run in the East.
