One question I have is that if Pacers match what do we do next? I do think odds are 60/40 they do match. Do we go after a Hawes or kamam of someone else? Also our capspace would dwindle sigificantly if we match a Nicoffer, if he signs for 11 mil our capspace goes down roughly to 10-11 mil. So what is Plan B?

    Oh, you wanted specifics?

Well, if Hibbert falls through, we will then either

    A. Have Batum's 11-12 million dollar salary on our books, leaving us with 9ish million to spend?

    B. Let Batum walk and have 22ish million to spend

    C. S&T the Frenchy

So specifics get thrown out the window until I know what they plan to do with Nic

If it were me, I would let him walk, and sign Beasley, or someone like that, and target a SF via lopsided trade at the deadline, and or through the draft or FA next summer

I agree on Frenchy, if Minny wants to offer him close to 12 mil per then adios, though if possible I would like to try to S&T so we get some value back. For me if we don't get Hibbert then it's likely back to a much slower rebuild and why pay Nic that much under those circumstances?

In a perfect world we could convince them to trade us Williams for Batum and a future first

I personally think the foot issues are important as well, don't you?

What about Robin Lopez? Probably not the best fit with Aldridge, but maybe a decent option if Hibbert isn't signed?

Other FA bigs that would be a good fit next to Aldridge could be

    Hawes
    Thomson
    R. Lopez
    Alabi

Guys we might be able to trade for?
    Gortat
    Koufos

Potential amnesty guys that could be a fit?
    Blatch

I don't think he's a better fit than Hibbert, but I think he'd be a decent fit as well

I think Thompson is interesting, with Sac drafting Trob and having Cousins and signing the little C from HOU last yr (can't remember his name) they might not match

Since DL in baseball is "disabled list" for injured players no way do I want it as a Blazers nickname. Talk about tempting fate!

Back to the offer. I am a tad suprised. Roy is not on the level of the recent dominant centers (Shaq, Hakeem, David Robinson, Ewing) or Dwight Howard. I did not expect all the eggs in this basket. But it could be a case, as others said, of overpaying, although Indiana is a small market and Portland is a lot warmer in the winter. But maybe it's a case of the law of conservation of Roys. Notice when the Blazers were Royless they were in the lottery.

BTW I had a high school friend I nicknamed "Lily" as a contraction of his last name. As soon as he graduated he came out. I'm sure not because of the nickname!

He has a nice PER, and his per 36 numbers of 13/10 would be a nice fit for the money
