    I like the idea of going after Brook Lopez as plan B. I know injuries are a concern, but he played in all 82 games his first 3 seasons. I'd much rather see him in a Blazer uniform than Hawes.

    Lopez is not going anywhere. They still want Howard and they need him for bait. Even if those odds are slim. Regardless NJ is grasping at anything right now that will help them win some games. Why would they not resign Lopez? It's not like they have a cheap owner.

    Everything I've read says nobody's bothered to make an offer because the owner is sure to match, even a max. Given the Nets' workings the last two days, that claim has a lot of support.

    If they meet with Kaman, it must mean they prefer to sign him at lower rate rather than sign Hibbert at the max. Because if they had already resolved to match, why bother with Kaman? I wonder what the going rate is for a guy like Kaman...10 mil?

    On the Nets and Lopez, if they resign him, they are definitely headed towards the luxery tax.

    Well, the Pacers are just doing due diligence at this point. If they were surely letting Roy walk, Kaman wouldn't have left town without an agreement tonight.

    Not necessarily, Kaman could be looking at other offers too, or holding out for more than what the Pacers offered. If the Pacers had already resolved to match, there would be no dilgence with Kamen.
