that kaman is never healthy? Also, I disagree that Kaman is better. nowhere near the effectiveness on defense, and an inefficient blackhole on offense.
Ya, I thought that was a reach as well. He has only had about 4 healthy seasons, with maybe another one for arguments sake. However, looking at his numbers compared to Hibbert show he is pretty similar, maybe slightly better
Hibbert to me could be like Duckworth. Meaning his stats don't tell the whole story. I think his skills and size helps his teammates. Duck with his size and his ability to screen his man from the basket, helped the Blazers of the early 90's lead the league in most rebound categories. Now I know this team does not have a Buck, Clyde, or Jerome on the team, but none-the-less when you have a center the size of Hibbert with skills, then I think it helps everyone else. Hibbert in my mind would be a good prize. Regardless of his stats.
After listening to some Indy sports radio this AM..... It really does sound like people expect them to match. And if the Pacers don't match, there will be rioting. A lot of their fans are asking how the Pacers can consider not matching. He's arguably their best overall player, an anchor on both ends of the floor, 25, improving, hard-working, a huge pillar in the community, etc. Plus, upon their hires, the Prez and GM immediately stated that the Pacers plan to keep everyone together, keep the continuity, etc. I tend to agree. The best chance we have, IMO, is for Hibbert to say to the Pacers that he really wants to come to Portland, and push for the Pacers to work out some sort of sign-and-trade. Whether we give up some mix of cash, picks, and bench players.
I don't thin Portland has any intention on trading Leonard. My thought would be cash, a future protected 1st and maybe one of the Euros
Yes, unfortunately. Which also makes me believe this is why we haven't had the rookies come to town for an introduction yet. Several teams have already introduced their players. And you don't bring Lillard in for an intro without at least bringing in Leonard. So the team is waiting to see how things play out. But KP knows PA. There is no way that KP doesn't come back and say, "Sure, you can have Hibbert. But give us this ransom, or we match. That easy." We have Freeland, Babbitt, Smith, Wes, Claver, E-Will, Barton, Leonard...... Pacers could ask for a decent ransom between a few players and cash/picks.
Yeah maybe ... I guess it all comes down to how badly Hibbert wants to leave and how much leverage the Blazers have.
Something tells me that the Pacers aren't exactly free spenders ... I don't know if KP is really going to have that kind of financial backing in a game of contract chicken with Paul Allen.
I would be really disappointed if we did. But I can see it happening. Pacers will at least want E-Will, you'd have to think (which I'd be okay with, despite the fact of his potential - I think he's going to be an above-average guard once he gets healthy). But you have to give to get.
Yes, but the trade doesn't have to be even because of our cap space. They could simply say, "Give us a 1st-rounder, E-Will or Leonard, and cash." That's not exactly breaking the bank for the Pacers. Plus, it gives them cash, and some additional assets.
Frankly, I'd rather just do a sign and trade for Derrick Williams and move other liquid assets for Hibbert.
Totally agree. Either way (in the 3-way vs. 2 separate moves), we're losing Batum. But in one end up with Hibbert and Williams, lose Batum and some bench players. In the 3-way, we get Hibbert and lose Batum. The difference of acquiring Williams vs. keeping bench players = I'd rather have Williams and lose bench players, than not get Williams and keep the bench players.
Does Indy's signing of George Hill affect Indy's cap space to re-sign Hibbert? He's their RFA so it doesn't right?
