Still getting max money from Portland + $5m/per from Kahn, Roy is sitting pretty.

signing with Minny? If Brandon Roy is "gaming the system", he's sure doing a piss poor job of it. He should have at least gone to Dallas.

I'd be shocked if he was able to play half their games this season. Bad, bad move for them.

Just to clarify, whatever Roy gets from Minny, that amount comes off #Blazers obligation to him. He doesn't get both salaries.

WTF thought he was allowed to double dip because he wasn't claimed off waivers, it doesn't work differently because he medically retired does it?

On the flip side, if he can even be half the player he once was, he and Love--and Rubio--are going to make one hell of a combo.

It makes sense that players can't double dip. Otherwise you'd have a douche bag like Dwight Howard sign a max contract extension with Orlando, retire halfway through the season and then sign a year later with New Jersey for a 2nd max contract.

He likely won't be able to practice, play consistent minutes or back-to-back games. As for playing with Rubio, Roy needs the ball in his hands. I can see him stopping the game flow.

He stopped playing the NBA schedule for a year. As soon as he gets back into the grind, bad things will happen.

Andrew Perna: Here's to Brandon Roy's second tenure with Minnesota being longer than the first...

Tokito isn't correct that the Blazers will save the entire amount of Brandon's salary. The offset amount is equal to (assuming the $5M contract is correct) ($5M - $762,195)/2 = $2,118,902.5. Brandon will make more money than he would have otherwise. He's owed somewhere around $16M this year, so that will go down to around $13.9M, but he will also get $5M from the T'Wolves, for a total of $18.9M.

I'm pretty sure players who have been amnestied can double dip to a degree. If Roy doesn't get an extra dime, what incentive does he have to ask for $10 million instead of the minimum?

It sucks that he's going to a division rival. Imagine if he hits a game winner for the Wolves at the end of the season to edge us out of a playoff spot. That would sting.
