What would be so amazing about it? He's reasonably bright, and he used to play basketball. That doesn't seem like a really strong qualification. How about someone who has actually worked as an NBA executive? Or at least in the entertainment industry generally? barfo
I agree, what qualifies Dudley other than that he went to Yale? Also, I helped campaign against him for governor, it just wouldn't feel right.
Sad day for the Trail Blazers organization. Larry was a stud, a great president. Thru his previous role with Brand Jordan, he had a bunch of good relationships with players, agents, etc.
Not sure what the President really does? I imagine more business related stuff while the GM concentrates on basketball. Chris Dudley sounds like a decent hire.
Also... FTFY. BTW, I have no problem with republicans running companies; some are really, really good at it. Dudley would be a good hire given his Ivy League education.
I wonder if Paul nudged him out the door. He might have read the comments and known Larry wasn't popular, and wanted to complete the front office make-over. There has sure been a lot of turnover in the Blazers front office lately! No stability. I didn't have anything against the guy. I hope this "Olshey era" works out.
Bingo... he's been dead man walking for at least 6 weeks, probably longer. I'm not sure he was the greatest president, but I agree with you; this inconsistency within the organization is embarrassing.
