There's no intelligence test for that. All it takes is enough corporate sponsorship, and anyone can be Governor, or President. Bush proved that.
Did he rely on corporate sponsorship for that? More like his opponents didn't have quite enough to defeat him.
More than anything, I think Larry did the job he was hired to do. He got the team on a much more level financial footing. But when it came to having Allen's confidence when it came to basketball-related decisions, it seems that he was being tuned out. The hire of Olshey seems clear evidence of that. Not to mention, the whole Rose Quarter/Memorial Coliseum redevelopment called "Jump Town" - an example of the non-basketball stuff that Miller was probably expected to have a stronger hand in - is going nowhere fast. Miller wasn't a bad president, but I think he could sense he'd be working against a headwind, having a GM he didn't favor on the basketball side, and little momentum toward progress on the non-basketball side. He might've also learned that Nike is just an easier place to work than One Center Court, especially when there's only one clique, and you appear to be on the outside of it (same thing that seemed to have doomed Pritchard, Cho, etc.).
Just a completely dysfunctional Oregon Democratic political machine that has recycled and rehashed the same incompetent people and placed them in great paying governmental posts since the days of Neil Goldschmidt and Barbara Roberts. The State has been a complete mess under Democratic leadership going on three decades. Even Democrats are sick of it, as there were nearly enough Democrats smart enough to vote in Dudley in this last election. That 3/5th's of all voters in Oregon are Democrat, but that Dudley got 48% of the vote shows how many Democrats are tired of their own political leaders. Oregon will never have a good economy under Democratic leadership. Nearly 15% of it's population are listed under the "perpetually unemployed". Then there's the illegal Hispanics who are supported by the Democrats of this State, who drain over 15% of all taxes collected by the State. Keep spouting how great the Democratic leadership of this State is as you continue to buy less and less each year with your paycheck, if you're lucky enough to have one.
Well if you ever run into Kitzhaber, tell the arrogant piece of shit to think twice about ever stepping foot in Autzen. On campus he is probably OK. But a football game with 50,000 drunk fans. ......it would be ugly. Lariviere was well thought of.
I have no problem with liberals or Democrats running an NBA franchise. I think Mark Cuban is the best owner in the NBA, and his politics don't at all matter to me. I posted what I've posted because three times now over the past few days somebody being a "Republican", or not being a "Democrat", has been brought up when discussing a person. That stuff should not matter one bit, and I notice only one faction mentioning it lately. Shooter used to as well from the perspective of a right-wing partisan (remember the silly Roy/National Anthem diatribes?), but he's stopped doing so in recent years, at least on the Blazer board.
Oh, the global moderator is getting angry at being called out for derailing the thread, and goes for a two-year slam that has literally nothing to do with even the original derailing. Stick to the OT board, because your basketball knowledge sucks, and nobody except a few fanbois want to read your snarky political takes in this thread. Popcorn, please!
The old "I know you are but what am I" defense. Pulling up two-year threads as a "gotcha" smacks of being in emotional control.
With the events of the last week it's all become clear... Larry Miller tried to Sandusky Batum in the shower.
