I say yes ... but I think the chances of him actually getting an offer that high are less than 50% ... seems like there's a whole lotta (Nidaye) smoke and not a lot of fire. If Kahn trades/dumps some salary then we'll know it's legit after all.
If this poll was "do you think the Blazers retain Batum" then I'd say yes. But "at $11M" implies that that's what he'll get, which we only have the word of some very shifty people, so I decline to vote.
Care to discuss this in the Wolves forum? http://sportstwo.com/threads/217239...ger-saying-he-is-certain-to-match-Batum-offer
The interesting quote was, "Like I said, what you will see at the end of this is that I believe what we did is in the best interest of the organization today and in the future." I'm not sure if that means that he is thinking that it might be too expensive to match or if Batum is a big part of the future. Either way, we are watching this as closely as you all are. Would you guy's be upset if we offered the reported deal and they didn't match?
Can't really put too much stock into anything Olshey says. Sad because he is too "LA" for the Blazer organization, but if he builds a good team, I don't really care if you can trust him or not.
Hey, props to finding the site just today, and then starting up discussion on the wolves board. While I only come here for Blazer discussion, it'd be cool to see the other forums take off, so kudos for trying to get discussion going there, and then having some spill over over here. Invite some others over who might enjoy a less nazi moderated sort of forum.
Hopefully we can find more people to join. I love discussing basketball and the Wolves so I'm open if anyone wants to discuss/debate anything. Might not always agree but that is the fun of being part of a forum such as this.
Batum, if I remember correctly, says he doesn't want to return to Portland. I would definitely get rid of him because I don't want him to be a cancer to the team. Perhaps the Blazers should match him and immediately shop him?
Not a bad idea, but I think Batum will let Blazer fans know he like Ptd (if matched) and all will be forgotten. I think the worst thing to do is not match just because Batum will be disgruntled. this sets up restricted free agents bad mouthing old club to get where they want to go. This has been tough on Blazer fans . . . guessing NO fans going through same thing with Gordon. You want them . . . but fuck them at the same time.
Upset isn't really the word I was thinking of ... surprised and a little relieved and a little maudlin, but not upset.
Oh thanks . . . i was actually going to stay up to see if any tweets about signing. Now I can go ahead and drink myself to sleep
Agree. Kahn and company would look foolish and lose credibility if they don't make the offer. Either offer or S&T. I think the latter.
