Comparing D. Miles and Nic is ridiculous. Different abilities, different mindsets and most of all... different expectations from management.

It's a great thing you aren't our GM. Don't just compare production and salary. You have to take into account the position of the team. We're not just paying the money, we're paying away cap space that could be used...flexibility.

If we were already over the cap it would be a different situation.

No it is not, they are\were both being paid more than what they gave you on the court with the hopes that they justify the contract you gave them.....

I like Batum's age and play on the court much more than the Miles that was given that ridiculous contract by POR....

But at $11.5 mil? POR is paying him more than he has justified by his play on the court and hoping that he lives up the contract....

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. If you ever acquire the foresight to match you'll have something to talk about. Still, you are comparing the proverbial "apples to oranges" as you have no clue to what is expected from management. Miles was supposed to be a steal that could be the teams #1 option if they could correct his tendency to be a head case. Nic, by his pay scale at 11+/- mm per year is only expected to be a #3 option and if the Portland Trailblazers are very fortunate #2 option. As HCP said, "Find me what all the SF in the league make and lets compare talent and $$$".

Would signing Harden to a max\near max deal be "hindsight"?

Given that he has clearly shown his worth on the court....I would think not....There is the difference, paying a guy who has SHOWN that he is worth that type of money instead of paying a guy who after 4 years you hope can still develop into that guy....

and Batum a #3 option? Again, your paying him that money and hoping that he can become such a player b\c he clearly is not that...

4 years of 15-20 one night and 4-6 the next...That isn't a reliable 3rd option and not wiorth $11.5mil IMO...

I know it is all great to be an optimistic fan and all, but there is a lot of Lillard is going to be a #1/#2 type guy and Batum is going to be a #3 type guy going around here...you know and maybe those if's come true...more often than not though, they do not....

Is it me or is Nic one of the better SF in the NBA? I understand PER rankings have their flaws, but it is a pretty good way to judge a player's value. He's 23 and I don't mind the we over pay to keep one of the best up and coming SFs in the game.

    and?

I am sure MIA was pretty damm happy with the 49th ranked SF in per during the playoffs....Has Nic had such an impact come playoff time during his stint in POR?????

    Maybe PER doesn't mean everything.....

Would the Heat have been better with Nic at the 3 or Battier?

Based on Batum's production in 3 seperate playoff series, is that even a serious question?

Not saying Battier is the greatest SF ever, but Batum has been a ghost through many of the playoff games he was in with POR...

I appreciate your opinion. Now you need to let the forum know what attainable player you would have the Blazers acquire that will be a better option than Nic for 11mm per year.
