I completely agree with the talent over mentor thing. If Lillard is any damned good he'll be the starter because his talent demands it, and having a guy who actually knows how to play and has enough left in the tank to do so at an NBA level, is going to be far more valuable as a practice opponent and somebody who will push him through competition, than having some washed up, over-the hill, old man dispensing sage advice from the end of the bench. Granted our options are pretty limited at this stage of free agency, but maybe something will be worked out via trade?
Jason Quick: Possible free agent target for Blazers for their backup PG position: A.J. Price. His agent Jeff Schwartz chose not to comment now Quick's been on it of late, so I won't doubt him.
Wow! I watch a lot of basketball... I mean A LOT, and have never once seen him play. Doesn't bode well I'd say!
Jason Quick: To answer question @cminor asked, Blazers have not shown interest in Leandro Barbosa, according to agent who works for Lagardere Unlimited about 9 minutes ago Jason Quick: Barbosa is more of a combo guard, and is more than the Blazers would like to spend for their backup PG. about 8 minutes ago
What about Nate Robinson? He always seems to do great against us, maybe he could do as well for us, he'd certainly bring some scoring punch off the bench. Nate has said in the past that he'd like to come to Portland. But Nolan Smith is looking more like a capable backup. He's had a very good summer league.
John Lucas III? Ugh, pretty low assist rate. Check out who appears at 16 and 18 on this list. CJ Watson looks good. Is Jamal Tinsley still a headcase?
Nate is signed with GS I think. But they traded for Jarret Jack, so maybe they would be willing to trade him.
Too bad he got hurt. Summer league is a time for experimenting and he needed to play some minutes as the PG. I have not watched the game yet but by the box score he played the whole game as the sg last night. I assume they planned on giving him a least one game where he ran the team. That sucks that he is done (per his sister) for the rest of the week. Regardless they need to find another backup. What is the difference in our available money between Today and Tomorrow (after we sign Nic) ?
