We have a bunch of tweeners, so I dunno how useful position labels will be. PG/SG: Lillard, Nolan, Elliot SG/SF: Barton, Wesley, Batum SF/PF: Claver PF/C: Aldridge, Freeland
I think Claver will be handed the job of backup 3 and Elliot Williams will be handed 2. Barton should backup both of those guys, IMHO. Of course unless there's an injury we're not talking about a lot of minutes.
Time to fire Tubby Medina, Kingspeed's heartthrob. Big men should play at their natural weight, and the lighter they are naturally, the better. Leonard may be the fastest center in the league right now, and is no weakling by any sense of the word. Saddling his feet and legs with another 20 lbs to pound them into the boards is a sure-fire recipe for a career-ending injury, besides taking away his best advantages of speed and agility. Once he masters positioning and footwork, look out.
Babbitt will be the back-up three going into camp, with Nic playing 35+ as a starter and a big contract guy. Claver must beat out Babbitt in camp to enter the rotation going into the season, IMO. The only reason not to play Babbitt today was because you saw what he can do, and it wasn't worth playing him more, IMO.
Leonard is already 245. Why add weight that is unnecessary to him, and have him lose some athleticism? Let his body mature and see if the weight comes naturally before making him some beast that his body isn't used to being.
IMO EWill is NOT a PG, in fact he may be the "purest" SG on the team, Wes can play some SF and maybe Barton as well, don't think Ewill could do that nearly as well as either one of those
I don't know why people keep calling Elliot a PG or combo guard. He's a SG, and I've seen no indication that he'll get any minutes at PG.
He's too short to be an elite starting SG in the NBA. That's probably why people call him a Tweener. Nothing against him, because I like his game and think he can be a great 6th man if given the chance.
Take a look at Babbitt's measurements from the same draft, though. http://www.nbadraft.net/nba-draft-combine-athleticism-test-results
These are the best pictures I could find that we might be able to guess his height with. Danny Green is 6'6.5" listed at 6'6" Armon Johnson is 6'3.25", listed at 6'3". Luke Babbitt is 6'8.75", listed at 6'9".
I actually enjoyed watching this game. If this were our NBDL team (plus a couple of big guys), I'd break out the popcorn and beer and root them on regularly. I hope Bost is on our NBDL team for example.
