I still think we're missing something. I like Lillard and Aldridge, but I don't think Batum is going to end up being worth all that money.
Well, if Lillard ends up being the player that some of us think he will, we might not need an alpha wing..... but I'd still love to see someone with a consistent outside shot. I just think Batum is a role player.
Is Luol Deng any more of an alpha wing that Nic? The Bulls were doing okay as contenders last season with Rose as their dominant scorer. I think the pieces the Blazers have in place in the starting roles work. I guess I'd prefer an upgrade at SG over an upgrade at SF. I think Batum has considerable upside.
Yeah, I agree. I'm just saying that in my opinion Nic has more upside than Wes so upgrading at the SG spot seems like a better goal than SF.
It would have to be someone that doesn't need the ball in their hands to be effective. Lillard is the kind of guard that needs the ball in his hands to make plays. We need a Reggie Miller. Do those exist anymore?
I'd actually prefer the opposite, otherwise, you become that dependant on Lillard as both a scorer and playmaker. OKC benefits from Durant and Harden alongside Westbrook because they can create for themselves, and don't need Westbrook to create for them.
I agree we need an upgrade at SG. That player could be on our roster, but if he is then regardless he needs to get better. As for the SF position Nic is our guy. I could care less how much he makes because currently it makes no difference. It may in the future in terms of cap space, but I see no reason to obsess on it today like I am sure a lot of fans will. As for the Alpha role......good topic. I think Lillard will be the guy and having another one at the SG position may create problems. We need a scorer at the 2, but not necessarily an alpha. I agree with the Chicago example. Rose was the guy. Someone taking the ball out of his hands would have been less effective. We will see how that works in LA.
