I've had it. First the Lakers get Steve Nash, and now they land Dwight Howard. Are you kidding me? Why the hell should the rest of the NBA teams even show up this year? I say everybody should stage a boycott and refuse to play.

I've never said this before, but I'm actually hoping that something bad happens to the Lakers this year. Screw karma. I want to see Howard or Bryant or somebody get injured. I'm sick and tired of Portland having all the bad luck. I'm sick and tired of the small market teams struggling along year after year, trying to fool themselves into thinking they actually have a chance to win an NBA title.

This is a rigged game, and the Lakers and the Heat and the Knicks will continue to get the best players every year. I'm so pissed right now. I could actually walk away from being an NBA fan tonight.

I'm hoping Dwight gets so caught up in his movies and commercials that he gets distracted from basketball.

I would REALLY be pissed if we were in a championship window - like OKC is. The NBA seems to be more and more of a recruiting game and a popularity contest.

I don't care about that. The point is that the Lakers have Dwight Howard and Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol on the same team this year. It's horrendously unfair that teams like the Lakers and the Knicks and the Heat can "reload" like this with regularity, while the Portland's and the Sacramento's of the NBA are left with the table scraps.

I wouldn't lump the Knicks into that mix. They're horribly inept, and have had just as much playoff success as we have in the last decade (ie., none).

    Meh.

I'm not worried. They'll be good but their window is obviously short with the age of Nash and Kobe.

Kudos to their GM for making big moves though. Hopefully Neil will have the guts of Mitch in the future.

Yes, but the Knicks can snag a great player like Stoudamire or Anthony because they are New York, and because they are the media capital of the world. The best players keep going to three or four teams, and everybody else is left out in the cold.

This. We are not hurt by this. This isn't our window. I feel bad for OKC. This is their window and they can't compete with this.

We have Aldridge and Lillard and they're pretty good. Would rather have them than Amare/Melo. They were a lottery team last year if it weren't for Jeremy Lin.

The Heat aren't such a magnificent market or anything. They got LeBron and Bosh because Riley masterminded it so that they had enough money to sign all three. I bet all three of them come to Portland if we had done the same. They wanted to play together. Didn't matter that it was in Miami.

Their window??? Who cares about their window? They just made themselves into a championship team!!! And when Kobe is gone, they'll replace him with another great player. When Howard is gone, same thing. Haven't you noticed the trend?

You think it takes guts to trade away Bynum for Dwight Howard? Life of a GM is a lot easier when superstars openly want to play for your team, and only your team. Kupcake didn't do shit.

Furthermore, we could've had Nash. He wanted to play with us, but we went with Lillard instead. Nash will retire in a couple years and Lillard will be a top 5 PG in the league by then.

Considering Howard is hurt and he has not agreed to re-sign with them, yes it takes a little guts.

    I agree.

This is another reason why I think we should build the future.

When did Dwight openly want to play for LA and only LA? He can still walk. Very very unlikely. Who gives a shit. They weren't handed anything. They drafted and developed a very good asset, and were willing and able to turn that asset into something better at a low value.

Yes and it took 7 years. It is now our time to do the same with Lillard and Leonard.

Oh, yes, this move was all about the Laker GM having guts. Yes, Milwaukee's GM or Sacramento's GM or Portland's GM could have landed Howard if they only had enough gumption and grit.

    Are you fucking insane?

Portland probably could have landed him if we parted with both lotto picks, since it's better than anything else they got offered. Sacramento could have offered up Cousins and a lotto pick if tey wanted to. Miwaukee's GM sucks. not gonna bother
