Kome kneed him there, if that counts. Did you see when Rudy had Kome pinned in the corner, then Kome put his leg through Rudy's legs and up into Rudy's crotch, then used the leverage to get around him along the baseline? Where's the outrage?
France and Spain have a LOT of bad blood between them. The really stupid thing is this is getting so much play and people are talking about how dirty a hit it was because well... every guy has that special hatred for getting hit in the nuts and anyone who would do it. Rudy did something worse to Tony Parker last year (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avLV2J9XNT0) and it didn't get any play on sportscenter.
This is what I've been saying. I've seen many dangerous 'fouls' over the years, every year. But Batum's closed fist, glancing off the basketball and hitting a guy in the lower abdomen (and missing the vital parts) is being treated by some as worse than Kermit Washington's punch on Rudy Tomjanovich. It's stupid. Meanwhile, if your name is Kome or Chris Paul, you can knee and hit guys wherever you want, and it just means they're competitive.
From a Ref's perspective: Kicking or Punching the ball is Illegal. We are not to judge intent only what we see. I see a man swinging a closed fist. This is Illegal and an ejection (not only a technical foul) is warranted. http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_10.html Section V-Strike the Ball a. A player shall not kick the ball or strike it with the fist.
So you're saying a player should be ejected for kicking the ball? Also the game was not played under NBA rules.
You're not really asking this question are you? You obviously didn't understand my post. Basically since nobody punches at the ball in basketball (happens often in Football) one could assume he was attempting to be flagrant. Then you judge the result of the play (which was a punch to the friggin nuts) and you assess the penalty accordingly. You cannot judge intent. You judge the action and the result of the play. Therefore you have to assume he was punching at the player since punching at the ball rarely happens. Had he kicked at the ball and hit him in the nuts I would have ejected him too.
You just said "You cannot judge intent." and then "Therefore you have to assume he was punching at the player." That seems exactly like judging intent to me..
You also forgot Judge the result of the play. So judging the result of the play helps determine what the call will be. If he punches and it hits the ball. You call a violation. But if he punches and hits nuts you take the result of the play and then use the beginning of the play to determine what your call will be. You have to ask yourself a question: Was he going for the ball? Case in point: The Tyson chandler play where he hit Przy's broken hand. You cannot be sure whether or not he meant to hurt Przy but you have to use the result of the play to determine what type of foul or infraction to call. The result of that play (after the refs went to replay) was a broken hand was hit. You cannot determine Chandler's intent, you simply have to say he swiped down and hit him on his broken hand. Lots of questions go into determining whether or not you assess a technical, or Flagrant foul.
^ You are too new to come up in here and question other people's posts son! Stay in your lane......... Read the rules, then post.
And I'm supposed to listen to you? VG and I were simply having a calm discussion then here you come out of the blue? You could have at least added something intelligent but no, hapless trolling? For someone who has so many of those green things by your "status" why don't you have something smart to add to the convo?
Some equate dick size with number of posts, which is unfortunate because there is no correlation. In fact, it might be a negative correlation, meaning that too many posts = nub.
