Again, how do you define? I mean, most of us can tell a brainy person from a dimwit, but a person can be brainy and still show poor judgment. Or be a total ahole.

How do you separate "brainy" from "opportunity"? Who knows how many really smart girls in Afghanistan were never allowed to go to school? Or how many really smart kids in the US went to overcrowded schools with outdated books and inexperienced teachers, without having a decent breakfast?

I'd bet every person on this list came from educated parents who raised them with books, educational TV programs, visits to museums, etc. Which is great. But some never had those chances.

Which leads to the most often overlooked second half of the smartness equation, EQ.

Those guys with 225 and 230 IQ's are 55 and 60 IQ points smarter than Paul Allen, and 65 and 70 points higher than Stephen Hawking.

I feel really stupid now. Like, HCP stupid

Notice how it says 210 is the highest confirmed IQ, though? Makes me think most of the numbers are rubbish.

At least now I know why James Woods always seems so annoyingly smug.

Not sure what you mean, Vanilla Gorilla.

Actually to accurately compare, all these individuals would have to be given the same test at the same age, identically scored.

But I think at a certain point the difference is academic. It's like money. A difference between 190 and 200 IQ doesn't make a difference in one's life, they are both really up there. And a difference between $15 billion and $20 billions really does not impact one's lifestyle. Either way you're in the 0.001%.

I was saying Will Hunting is an example of someone who didn't come from money but ended up a successful genius. But it was a joke, cause Good Will Hunting is a movie.

Ah, so. I am not a movie buff, which explains why I did not recognize the reference.

I've forgotten, but back when they used to measure me, 160 on the Cattell scale was about 130 on the California scale. There are several scales. I thought the Iowa scale was the most reliable.

Saying that someone's IQ is 160, is like saying the temperature is 160, without adding, Celsius or Fahrenheit. You always used to hear "on the ______ scale" after the IQ figure.

Anyway, as my life proves, those who hate humanity will immediately leap ahead of those wih shiny IQs. You need an inner aggression which must align with the surrounding economic and social systems.

IQ is not a measure of smartness, and anyone who is intelligent OR smart already knows this.

I gotta say of all the geeks on that list only James Woods seems like he'd be an interesting guy to hang out with.

I have a very high IQ, and am a huge dumb ass. So I am not sure that is the best way to judge anything

    I'm smart but not rich.

My mom wanted me to apply to Mensa but I told her I was not interested in such an elitist group. Maybe she thought I'd meet a smart nice Jewish girl.
