Well, Harry Reid has gotten several passes for racist comments.

    So what's your point?

BTW, what this person did constitutes a hate crime and I hope they will be punished.

36 black delegates out of 2000 so 1.8%

    is this unusually low?

did I miss something? This behavior wasn't condoned and they were forcefully removed from the convention.

Perhaps they joined the group of 40 people marching in front of our apartments chanting "we're black, we're young and we don't give a F***." Or not. Regardless, I don't think someone being kicked out of an event imbues the people kicking them out with their behavior and/or prejudice.

It seems to me that someone should be able to name names. Let's see how Republican those two are before we start bashing half of the country.

Why would Obama have to do it when there are other entities that support him and may be willing to do it?

The whole thing seems fishy to me. I gotta think that they know who every person in that building is. Just name some names. Shame them and fire them and blame them. They deserve it, if it really happened.

I don't think Obama (or anyone associated with him/his administration) did it. There are plenty of idiots out there, no need to plant them.

There's always been a lot of racist bigots associated with the Republican party. When your main constituency is the bible belt in the deep south there tends to be a lot of racism.

I know when I visit my cousins in Missouri (very Red) the racism (not neccessarily them) is in the air.

Most conservatives I know personally, and that's quite a lot, are comfortable being quite openly racist. I don't think it's something you can change in others, or maybe not even in yourself . It's a trait developed from early childhood for most, like whether you are right or left handed. It's also an attitude that's strongly reinforced by most conservative politicians through their rhetoric, their party platforms, their finger-pointing, and their attacks on programs that aid minorities.

I think the best you can hope for is that today's youth has more enlightened parents, teachers, and role models.
