Worst. Movie. Ever. High school production values. The main message is that Mohammad was a pervert, along with everything else they can accuse him of. The makers deserve a locust plague of Arab protestors armed with swords.
there were four consulate workers killed in libya, one was the ambassador that helped free Libya. It is sad when we let ourselves be ruled by religion and anger.
Jesus. What a catastrophe. It's no surprise, however. This is what happens when you project weakness in a region that respects (and fears) the "strong horse". Did anyone see the original statement from the Cairo Embassy? It was, in essence, an apology for that ridiculous movie offending Muslim sensibilities. If we're going to stand for our values, the First Amendment should be first among them.
I don't think there is an easy answer here. "i'm sorry but our laws dictate your religion can be insulted, just like ours. But please don't be violent if you're mad at us."
US ambassador plus three others killed in rocket attack on 9/11. An act of war? I'm sure Obama will put out a harshly-worded statement, and then do nothing about it since he's the fucking failure who ousted Khadaffi in the first place.
"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others"
It's not an act of war. No more than a riot in one of our cities is. It's probably not a good idea to maintain embassies in unstable and hostile nations.
Why do you think they felt they could be violent? Because they know we won't do anything. We won't stand for our values. History has shown the only thing the Arabs respect is strength. Show them you're not fucking around, hit them back twice as hard and they'll cower. Case in point: Do you remember when Islamic radicals were kidnapping westerners in Lebanon? They'd take our people and we'd negotiate or pay them off. A group took a Soviet embassy employee and made ransom demands. The Soviets took a relative of one of the kidnappers, cut him in into chunks and sent their response with a garbage bag of his remains attached. That employee was released unharmed the same day and no other Soviet citizen was ever kidnapped again. Barbaric? Perhaps. But it was effective and in the end likely saved lives. What we perceive as our strength (our humanity), they perceive as weakness. So, to paraphrase Marsellus Wallace, it's time to get Medieval on their asses.
On a related note, Obama declined to meet Netanyahu next week while he is in DC because his schedule is too full. Part of his "full schedule" is an appearance on David Letterman. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2012/09/11/obama-back-letterman Obama Announces Letterman Appearance on Day He Snubbed Netanyahu
Fucking armchair quarterbacks, all of you. Foreign relations is a more complex game than any of you have any idea, yet you all throw out simplistic observations and solutions to massively complicated issues. Of course, the ignorant reactionaries in this country will beat war drums because it's easy. Real solutions to issues like this are neither easy, quick, or inexpensive. That's why America refuses to do it. I also find it ironic that most people who are the most outraged by attacks like this wish to turn the United States into the religious equivalent without reservation.
Egypt are Libya are "unstable and hostile" now directly because of Obama's policy of ousting quasi pro-US leadership in those countries and giving hard-line extemists even more power than they had. What a ridiculous post. A monumental failure in foreign policy, and it illustrates just how stupid the entire "Arab Spring of Democracy" thing was at the time, which smart people knew, and in hindsight, which all but the Obama jocksniffers should be able to clearly see.
The two countries in which Obama ousted leadership had the US embassies attacked there yesterday, including a rocket attack in Libya that killed the ambassador and three other US citizens. You can spin it all you want, but nobody but the Obama jocksniffers are going to buy it. It's a monumental failure in middle east policy, and there is no coming back from that mistake. You don't care about the dead ambassador, which is obvious; instead, you lash out at "religious" people in the USA as you fret about how these killings are going to impact Obama before his next appearance on Letterman.
It appears that our good buddies in the Egyptian military were warned of the attacks on the two embassies a week ago, and decided not to share that intel with the USA. Because of this, 4 US citizens are dead. http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/159873#.UFCHLKN5mK0
Wait, I'm full of hate? Did you read your rambling rant about religious people in the US, armchair QBs, and the rest? You seem to be an extremely hateful person.
Pictures now on Twitter showing Ambassador Stevens' dead body being dragged out shirtless and beaten by mobs post-mortem. Animals...
Bush gets Khadaffi to disarm his WMD, Kadaffy helps out with intellegence, etc., Khadaffi keeps a lower profile after 9/11, and as thanks, Obama helps kill him. Then the new, liberated, free people of the Muslim Brotherhood kills one of our ambassadors. Teachable moment? If you are a dictator seeking WMDs, don't give them up, or the US will kill you.
"Riots" breaking out near US embassies in Sudan, Morocco, and Kuwait ... hope this all gets cleared up before Obama appears on Letterman next week for softball questions, forced giggles, and a lame Top Ten list. Don't these terrorists know that Barack killed bin Laden, spiked that football about it for well over a year, and that terrorism is soooo 2008?
