I think it's possible... or maybe I'm just a robot. I don't care to see sports figures as real people, because I don't care about them as people. I don't get that caught up when guys are "good guys" nor when they're "bad guys". I want to see them play well for my team, and I want my team to win.

That's always how I've been with sports, I guess. Even when I got excited about the Blazers (in the early 90's, in the late 90's, and then with the Oden/Roy/Aldridge potential) I didn't get excited about whether they were nice guys or not, and I know that every player is going to play somewhere else someday.

I agree with Ed and MM, and I live in Portland. He meant a lot to the franchise in that we went from the downfall of JailBlazers era into the lotto era, and he at least helped turn things around and make the team respectable. He was a great player for us. But it's not going to suck seeing him play in Minnesota. Part of greatness is durability and longevity, which remains to be seen with Roy. He'll do some great things for Minne. Glad he's playing again. But don't really care, otherwise. Like Gotye says, Roy is "just somebody that I used to know."

I find it funny that there are several people who complained about the way the Blazers played slow ball and used ISOs so frequently, but are so super-sad Roy is gone. Roy was the reason the team played the way they played. Don't get me wrong, dude was amazing at times, and he could have ended up as the greatest Blazer of all-time. But based on the things that were and weren't accomplished while he was here, he's not in the conversation.

    My take is,

for me to go from "we envision Brandon starting" to "the doctors have said I need to retire" was a huge blow. I could take Oden. Compared to Roy, he did nothing.

When you have a player like Roy, when the game is going you think to yourself, "as long as we keep it close Brandon will come through in the end."

I for one will be sick to my stomach to watch the game when he comes back here in Black, Blue, and Green (could you have any worse team colors??)...

I wonder how Blazers like LaMarus and Nicolas feel about Roy playing somewhere else.

Maybe Minnesota will win the title this year. Both Drexler and Sheed, our last two stars, won titles right after they left us.

psst, Roy was injured in two of the 3 playoff series and one player doesn't get you in or out of the first round.

Psst. I don't care. I never fell all over him like a lot of Blazer fans did. The offense was boring with him, unsuccessful in the playoffs and easy to defend.

Both traded midseason. If anyone was going to do it, it would've been Camby.

Just got round to watching the video. Struck by how similar Roy's and Lillard's facial bone structure is. Apropos of nothing...

Oh, and I've never lived in Portland, but I care a lot about Roy. I think I'd feel worse if a miracle happened and Oden amounted to something for some other team, just because I feel we got something out of Roy, but we never got value out of Oden, and invested so many hopes.

But yes: I am very glad Roy didn't go to the Lakers.

Will he get a huge cheer when he plays in the RG for the first time? I will be ashamed for all Blazers fans if he doesn't.

I blame that on the coach more than the player. When you call the same damn play over, and over, and over ad nauseum it becomes very easy to defend, no matter how talented the player is with the ball in his hands. Nate got outcoached in EVERY playoff series while here and completely failed to make adjustments mid-series.

I think S2 bitched more when Roy was healthy for that reason: Roy/McMillan ball.
