Is there any upside/potential in Adam Morrison whatsoever?

He's completely undeserving of a training camp invite....

He certainly has value on THIS TEAM in THIS MARKET. It won't take much for him to be a local phenom. One or two memorable moments and Olshey will be castrated for cutting/dealing AMMO. Olshey may be best served to avoid the situation all together.

Speaking of Olshey, I saw him at the Oregon Zoo on Saturday.

He's never been consistent looks though.

Because he's white and has long hair?

After his injury in 2nd year in Charlotte he's never been given a fair shake. I think an offensive minded coach like Stotts can find a role for him.

I think he'll give us meaningful minutes this year at the very least.

I don't think that's why he saw Olshey at the zoo.

Now I know you're a troll. NOBODY actually believes this guy can play.

Now be truthful- are you Mixim returned?

We always need shooters, but can he move enough to guard someone. From what I can see we have multiple "back up" players at the 3. But none of which can guard a quick attacking SF. I guess Wes will have to fill that role because between Morrison, Claver, Babbitt, Jefferies (Who is listed at a SF but I assume will play PF-C) and Pavlovic (who is 6'8" but listed at a SG), I am not sure who will get meaningful minutes.

Actually I can make a guess and that will be Claver.

I don't remember any "memorable moments" from those guys. Ime was barely serviceable, and a lot of fans were torqued when he wasn't retained. I agree with Pro Fan's point. If Morrison has a couple of exciting games, a good portion of Portland fans will be all over his jock. And it has nothing to do with race or hair. It's just how Blazers fans roll.

I had hopes that he could at least serve some sort of role on this team no matter how little and I was rooting for him but after hearing that he will retire if he doesnt make the team that kinda turned me off thinking the dedication may not be there to begin with. Maybe im overanalyzing it. Either way its really just ... meh

Poor man's Luke Babbitt? Rich man's Sasha Pavlovic? Middle class man's Victor Claver?

Seriously, how many 6'8 - 6'9" white spot up shooters who can't guard anybody do we need on this team.

Even in Stott's system, I only see a need or ONE such player - back-up forward who can hit a wide open 3-pointer and do nothing else. And, as depressing as it seems, I think Babbitt is the best of the four. After last season, he has proven he can knock down the wide open 3 at an elite level (was in the running for leading the league in 3FG% right up to the very last game of the season). I know he's more expensive than the other guys, but he's also reasonably young and not a horrible rebounder.

Claver is intriguing, just because he's a bit of an unknown quantity. Morrison (career .331 3FG%, career PER = 7.4, can't guard anyone) and Pavlovic (career 0.349 3FG%, career PER = 8.4, can't guard anyone) are known (as in known to suck big time) quantities.

After watching some of the practice video, I am not sure Morrison is completely healthy. When he was in college, he showed "OK" athletism. What I have seen of him from last summer league and the practice video - it looks like he is laboring just to run.

I think he realizes making the team is a long shot to begin with....

Hmm the value of a tall , white spot up shooter? Well Kiki was worth half a team, (still pissed about that). If we are going to be a inside out team, we have to have guys that can shoot the three in a game (do you hear me Babbit)

so if we start training camp with 400 of these guys, wll, we are bound to find at least two..

Olshey believes he can play, obviously.

Guys who can knock down the 3 at 0.331 or 0.349 aren't exactly hard to find - especially guys who don't do anything else and can't guard anybody.

No, it's not obvious. Olshey is curious to see if he can play. If he believed he could play, he'd have offered him a guaranteed contract.

I think the bench is so thin that it's worth giving Morrison a look. I'm not seeing the harm. If he doesn't work out in the end, what is the harm?
