Once the majority of the population is being given programs that they didn't pay anything for, there is no way a candidate can win an election if he brings up major cuts. Unless you have more faith in the average American than I do, and assume that they will vote against their own self interests.

Do you know who has an incredibly stupid system for funding their schools whereby kids in rich neighborhoods have way better schools because of the narrow tax base? The US.
