So, a 20-year old rookie was in foul trouble and had a bad preseason game. Shocking!!!! That's has never happened before in the history of the NBA and TOTALLY proves your point.

His per-36 minute numbers from last night were:

    7 pts, 7 reb, 2.3 blk, 2.3 stl and 100% FG%

and if that's what he puts up on a awful night, I'd take that for his rookie season. And for all of his supposed awful defense, the Blazers were -1 when he was on the floor (tied for best +/- on the team). They were -8 when Freeland was on the floor and Lillard was -13 and Batum -16. Were they wasted picks as well? Are Lillard and Batum NBDL talents?

Your act remains tired. Time to come up with some new material.

in addition who wasn't awful on defense in the first half when they played Stott's new zone D for the first time? - OUCH we looked awful and Sac was scoring at will from everywhere.

And 12 fouls. lol he would have fouled out twice in 36mins. He's gonna have some growing pains, but I like that he isn't a stiff. nbadraft.net had me concerned with their Robin Lopez comparison.

Yep, it happens. Go back and look at Oden's rookie year. He played in 61 games and had 5, or more, fouls 23 times. He also scored 4, or fewer, points 17 times and grabbed 4, or fewer, rebounds 19 times.

In other words, rookie Oden put up numbers similar to Leonard last night in about 1/3 of his games. Leonard has played 3 games, 1 of them with 5 fouls, 3 points and rebounds.

Yeah, we all know Leonard (bust written all over him, NBDL talent) is no Oden (once a generation enter set to come back and dominate the NBA), but like all young big men, Leonard will be inconsistent, will get in foul trouble and have a significant number of bad games. That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Even the legendary Oden suffered similar problems, at a similar rate, as a 20-year old rookie.

In tonight's blowout, we saw what would happen in a World Without Hickson.

Sorry, Meyers fans. Leonard should not be starting.

Your right, he doesn't deserve to start. But that's irrelevant if your eye is on the future.

I'm not talking about morality, I'm talking about the survival of Blazer fans as a species. If Leonard starts, every game will be the Armageddon that was tonight. Starving in a nuclear wasteland won't help his development.

I love watching Meyers and think he will one day be an excellent starter, but he is very very raw and in not close to that point yet. Hopefully next season. The good news is that he works his ass off on the court. I really can't recall a 7 footer who is as active on D. Too bad that all that activity right now seems to be working against him and actually softening our D, but I would rather have a frantic player gain control than a lazy player have to develop work ethic.

Yes, I like his activity. But all the Blazers are more active this year. I wonder whether Leonard would have been a statue in the system we left behind.

I like his future, but this talk of putting Hickson on the bench right now should die after last night's debacle without Hickson.

Was it Leonard's fault Aldridge missed shots he usually makes? Serious question. Can Aldridge only play well alongside Hickson?

Of course it was the cause. Similarly, if you replace Matthews and start Price in his place, Lillard will suddenly play half as well.

oh, so you mean those 10 mpg where Price is playing PG next to Lillard's SG isn't going so well?

He has things you can't teach: size, athleticism and hustle. If he works hard enough to develop his skills, he could be a very useful player for us in the future, kind of an upgraded Przy.
