Well, I think Romney would have been MUCH closer to a balance budget..and less national debt. This may be shallow thinking, but I think our debt has been a huge contributor towards our economic fears....and ensuing lack of growth.
Let's look at the President's two wins: PPACA and bin Laden. I'd submit that the first one wouldn't have been passed (which I personally think is better). Do you think that if Romney or McCain (or Palin!) had been President when SOCOM came to the President and said "we can get bin Laden...can we get your permission to do so?" that Romney, McCain or Palin would've said "No."?
Here's what I don't get. Everyone now considers it a foregone conclusion that going into Iraq was a mistake. Why is there never talk of reparations for those hundreds of thousands of lost lives in that needless war? Here's one way to improve the US impression in the middle east.
the US does not want to start paying reparations, because they'd then have to give $$ to African Americans, Japanese Americans (although my brain seems to think they did receive some kind of reparations for the internment camps), Native Americans, and others, etc. What the US could do is do what we did with Germany and Japan after WWII, and funnel money into the area to help build it. However, don't do it for as long as they did in J and G, and don't stay there.
