Honestly, the guy could average 10 a game. He finished with 7 assists last night, which isn't bad, but:

    1-11
    8-22
    5-15

That's going to affect your assist numbers

I was on another forum reading their game thread and they seemed to think Lillard had 4 assists he wasnt credited with. Two on LMA jumpshot one on a babbit three and another on a wes three. Dunno what time those phantom assists supposedly happened.

Yeah, the problem is that assists are credited by people, so it's all subjective. Things like rebounds, assists, and blocks are completely open to interpretation. Honestly, if the NBA really cared, they should have people review the game tapes and give an accurate stat line after the game.

People have to remember the rules

An assist is a pass that directly leads to a basket. So if Aldridge gets a pass in the post, holds the ball and uses two post moves, that should not be an assist. If he gets the ball up top, ho;ds the ball and pump fakes then shoots and scores, should not be an assist either

No doubt, but mostly this thread is about the fact that our team couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night, and that impacted Lillard's assist numbers.

if steve blake passes the ball to brandon roy and he drives 10 feet to the basket it shouldn't be an assist.

unless your home scorekeeper is trying to help blake set an assist record for a quarter.

It was Rudy driving from the 3pt line to finger-rolling it in that did it for me. ;) And I was sitting there looking up at the scoreboard like "there's NO way...yup, I guess there was".

You're forgetting the Stockton Qualifier, which states: if a Utah Jazz player scores, John Stockton gets an assist. He's still racking them up even now.

I just can't get over the fact of how good he is - with so much room to improve.

Not to mention, Dame has had a number of his sweet passes slip through unexpectant hands...resulting in turnovers. That'll change, as well, the more he meshes with his teammates. :)

Exactly. And by improve I really mean learning the nba game and time for chemistry rather than skill. The skill is already there and shinning.

Mainly when teammates learn to expect a pass at any time when he has the ball.

    27 assists after 3 games - 9.0 assists/game.

    He is among league leaders.
