Anyone remember an article that came out two years ago talking about two players in general (Klove, Rondo), but was more about score keeping at home where the score keepers have to much control over whats going on and it showed in the numbers. It talked about how the score keepers were very loose with what was an assist for Rondo and what was a Rebound for Love and used that as a catalyst to talk about how underhanded it was in general. The difference between Love/Rondo road vs home was something like 3.2 assists for Rondo and 3.3 rebounds for love.

It also talked about Blakes 14 assist quarter and Nick Van Exals record break assist night.

I watched the video of Rondo's "20 assists". I love Rondo, but MANY of them were totally bogus. He would move the ball, the player who received it would dribble, create a shot and he'd get an assist! If the Euro standards were being used he'd be lucky to get double figures on those "20".

At least it wasn't Dance Dance Revolution, or they'd be talking microfracture.

You said it: "until he landed in Memphis." Exactly! It was all about the crappy organizations he was playing for. Portland was a team in transition and Knicks & Clippers were garbage franchises at the time. There was nothing one player could've done to save those organizations at the time. Memphis brought him in, surrounded him with talent, and trusted him. Zach was never the problem. His teammate were. Same with Sheed. Instead of trading Sheed, we should've been trading FOR Billups, Hamilton, etc. Ugh...Shareef Abdur Rahim?? smh

    Wow. That's awful.

After last night's monster EFF = 31 game, Anthony Davis has taken a commanding lead over Damian Lillard in the rookie EFF rankings:

    Anthony Davis: EFF = 20.0
    Damian Lillard: EFF = 17.9
    Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: EFF = 15.1
Everybody Else: EFF = Doesn't Matter

That's the thing about a small sample size, a single game can make a very substantial difference. It will be interesting to see how this race plays out. Rookie big men, in general, tend to have more huge games (EFF =>30), but NBA ready rookie guards who have the ball in their hands more tend to put up very good games (EFF between 20 and 30) on a more consistent basis. This was definitely true during Roy/Aldridge's rookie year. Aldridge led all rookies in EFF => 30 games, but Roy had far, far more 20 <= EFF => 30 games than all other rookies that year.

Davis is going to have some monster games, but it doesn't have me worried. Like you just said its hard fora rookie big man to do that on a consistent basis. He was a legit beast last night and it helped that the refs treated him like a star.

I saw it, too, but wasn't feeling quite petty enough to point it out. :)

@ESPNSteinLine: Dunk flap aside, Elias says @Dame_Lillard is the first rook to average 19 ppg & 6 apg through 10 games since Isiah Thomas (21 & 7) in 1981

SOMEBODY has to be the point guard on that team...

Not to question Brooks's coaching, but I must say turning one of the purest scorers in NBA history into your do-it-all Lamar Odom type, while letting your "point guard" jack up twice as many shots would not have been my first choice. But I guess that's why he gets paid the big bucks.

[Another Westbrook story: an OKC fan I play basketball with (his excuse - he actually grew up in Oklahoma) was sitting courtside when OKC nearly lost to Detroit at the palace a week or so ago. I think Detroit was leading at the break, so he told Westbrook in no uncertain terms to stop shooting. Westbrook told him to "shut the fuck up."]

Brett Pollakoff: Kobe on the new flopping rule: "Thank God. It doesn't belong here. We're grown-ass men, you don't need to be falling all over the place." Twitter @BrettEP

Someone needs to tell Kobe that grown-ass men don't whine like little bitches on every fucking play that doesn't go his way.

I think what Kobe said was that they were "grown assmen". He was referring to his sexual preferences.

@ESPNStatsInfo: Elias: Zach Randolph has at least 15 Pts and 10 Reb in each of 1st 9 games. In last 15 years, only other player to do that is Kevin Garnett.

Grizzlies no longer #1 in the league, and it feels like shit, haha...

Never having been a fan of the team with the #1 record, I was hoping it'd last, but we have a pretty easy home stretch coming up to make up ground. It just sucks that our reign as #1 lasted all of two days.

The Nuggets simply outplayed us tonight, and surprisingly, most lot of it was done in the post. Their bigs are very talented and had a chip on their shoulder. Things happen... I'll call it a hangover, optimistically, but in reality, the Nuggets won because they're a mismatch nightmare for us. I don't even expect the Lakers game we have coming up to be as challenging for our bigs.
