I would take Pendergraph back for Jeffries. Yes Jeffries did do two defensive stops vs Chicago but he has no offensive punch. What's your guy's take?
My take is we have a bigger need for defense right now then offense. And since our bench players rarely shoot the ball how would Pendergraph help us? Jeffries can guard multiple positions. He has been known as an excellent defender over the years, and as far as i can see his injuries have not effected his mobility. Pendergraph may be a better banger, but he is just another undersized center at 6'9". I would rather give the minutes to Leonard. I would have no problem with Pendergraph on our bench, but Jeffries is more valuable than what the box score shows.

Pendergraph is horrible. I'd rather keep Jeffries. We should be looking at undrafted players and NBDL guys to call up though there is a better chance we find a contributor there than either of these two.
I wouldn't because Jefferies is more versatile. I believe Freeland is a better player than he's shown so far, and can find his groove as a backup PF.
Only way i'd want Pendergraph back was if we had an open roster spot. Much like Patty Mills was he seems like a great locker room guy.
Yea but he didn't really for us because of Nate. So I was using him in the context we used him in, not the fact he switched coaches and now is decent.
Pendergraph has never proved he's an NBA player. Jeffries has had a long NBA career precisely because he's a great role player. I'm not even sure that Pendergraph knows how to play basketball. So no, that would be dumb.
Pendergraph is another one of those crappy role players that Blazer fans have some strange connection to.... He's not good.
I would love to have Pendy on this team instead of Jeffries. But I don't think that trade makes us much (if any) better, and certainly wouldn't make enough of a difference to push us into the playoffs if we were anywhere close...
10 years. That is the difference between Leonard and Varejao. And Varejao is an old 30 as he has played for their National team since at least 2003. That is a big gamble when the team is so young.
That's why I think Cleveland may jump on it. Varejao is the perfect center for us though. He is a hustler and very good with position D and rebounding.

He makes us better now, but giving up Leonard so soon could potentially hurt us in the long run. It will also reduce our cap space next summer by over $3 million. We go from having ~$13 million to offer to about $10 million. How much longer can Varejao hold up banging down low for 36 MPG? I expect this year will be a career year for him. He's getting big minutes on a crappy team. The rebounding and defense would be nice, but he'd score a lot less in Portland, and I think Myers Leonard has the potential to be a good rebounder and defender and definitely has more offensive potential than Varejao. Plus, he's only 20. He'll be around LONG after Varegao is retired. We're not going deep in the playoffs this year, may not even make the playoffs. Varejao may increase our chances of making the playoffs this year, but I'm not ready to mortgage the future for a couple one and done playoff appearances. By the time the rest of our core are in their primes, Varejao will be past his. Stay the course. Let it bake! BNM
