LaMichael's NFL career is not going very well so far. He's the 5th string RB on the 49ers.

49ers backup RB Kendall Huner went down with an injury last week, and many thought that would create an opportunity for James, because he's the only other speedy back on their roster. But he wasn't even activated for the game today.

RB is the position that most easily translates to the NFL, so it's not like he has a lot to learn....disappointing.

There just really deep at RB. Gore is a shell of his former self and jacobs was more of a security blanket then anything long term.
Next year should see a split of work between hunter and gore with james getting work if either misses time.

I am surprised too. I have a feeling he will want to be traded to another team if he isn't getting any playing time. What's his signing minimum with a team?

It bums me out because I love the Niners.... and James is one of my favorite Ducks of all time...... but with Gore and Hunter I don't see him playing unless there are some serious injuries.

Maybe he wasn't as good as we thought? The Duck offense gives guys crazy stats. I understand being behind the #2 back in Hunter. But now with Hunter out he is also basically behind Anthony Dixon as the 3rd RB. That makes him what 5th on their depth chart when everyone is healthy?

He will get a shot eventually. It was an odd draft pick with Gore locked up for years and them already having a young back of the future in Hunter.

I was pretty sure he wouldn't be used much this year for them because of their depth. He tested out to be a top shelf athlete at RB but at 194 lbs he needed to add some good weight to better stand up to the pounding. The depth is largely gone now so I expect he'll be doing his thing shortly

What do you think of the CK vs Smith QB controversy?

i think harbaugh was dumb to force it, and now if he has to go back to smith they might both be worse for it

should have rode the year out with smith, who was playing GREAT, and went to kaep next year, with a full offseason to prepare

Rumor is that James will get some playing time this week. I think the 49ers could use a back with some speed.

Yeah I was a little surprised he made the switch.... but I've never been a fan of Alex Smith. I think the Niners beat the Giants last year if they had a better QB.

LaMichael had a great debut for the 49ers today! He almost took the opening kickoff to the house but was tripped up by a shoestring tackle. He almost took a draw to the house too but one of his own players tripped him.
