I think it has more to do with a woman having rights given or taken away. Sometimes people fight for things that aren't directly connected to them. For example: there were a lot of whites also part of the black right movement.
No big puzzle; they empathize and are more likely to be feminist. It's like most civil rights issues, really; straight white supporters usually outnumber the actual group striving for rights just because there's so damn many of us. And seriously, a lesbian is just as likely to be raped by a man as a straight lady. EDIT: Mags beat me to it!
I know you are trying to troll but not all lesbians hate men FYI. In fact my daughter loves me too death! And there are lesbians I know that have long standing good relationships with straight men too.
Not unless you think that most rapes are between strangers. Most are at parties or dates and are from both being drunk and totally misinterpreting someone's interest. Not a recipe for large numbers of lesbians being raped.
Your mental picture of lesbians seems a little... rudimentary. Combine a girl who wants to be friends with a guy (and the misinterpretation of interest) with the classic "she just needs a good deep dicking to fix her" and I think you're pushing the recipe back into "lesbians get raped plenty" territory.
Correct, most lesbians don't hate men. But the converse is true, that most female manhaters are lesbian.
So you disagree with what science found about 30 years ago, about most rapes being between people who aren't strangers?
No, I'm sure there's plenty of straight women who hate most men. And there's a lot of men who aren't terribly proud of their gender, either... social neanderthals with simplistic world-views on gender don't make for glittering examples of masculinity.
Is this a hypothetical guess, because it sure disagrees with my experience. I didn't mean to imply that. (And I didn't.)
Anyway Mags, good on you for your situation with your daughter (your acceptance of her, etc), and good luck!
So out of 100 raped women; 10 are lesbians; then the lesbians shouldn't worry about abortion? That doesn't make sense. And you're right. Most raped women are raped by their father or uncles. And in some cases the hate towards men is stemmed from how the role models in their life took advantage of them.
My cousin is gay and was raped about 4 years ago, when she was 16. I'd also like to point out that male and female rape statistics are not very different, and there are now unjust laws to punish men accused of rape, with no proof. That, folks, is called sexual inequality in the eyes of the law! http://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/nisvs_executive_summary-a.pdf
Magnifier, first, I assume you talk to your kid(s) about sex issues in general. Do you expect them to remain virgins until marriage? It's not likely. Do you want them to wait for a certain age, or until they are committed to a person, or feel mature enough for the responsiblity of a sexual relationship? You really don't have to answer those questions here, but I'm guessing that you had ideas on the subject before your daughter came out. And they should not change (except pregnancy is not an issue). You don't say if you have other children. Can they have friends, with whom they are not romantically/sexually involved, in their rooms with door closed? Then same rules should apply here. Believe me, a lesbian, even with raging teen hormones, does NOT want to sleep with every girl/woman she meets! She may well have girl friends who are not "girlfriends", very possibly straight. So whatever rules you would have for a straight child should apply here. Also, if she has problems with peers or teachers over being gay, are you prepared for that? If you have not done so, please contact PFLAG, Parents, Friends and Family of Gays, they are on line. I am 100% certain those parents have dealt with the same issues. Hope that helps, feel free to PM me if you wish.
I am very sorry this thread is being hijacked by jlprk's shit about rape. Shit being the operative word.
damn Crandc, except for refering to his Daughter as a young goat (kid), that was a very nice post. I am gonna have to rep that
