The act of leaving the weapons unlocked and out of a gun safe is flagrantly irresponsible in general; I see a civil suit in the future.

someone should start flooding their mail boxes with adult magazines and other "offensive" material.

What I don't understand is why did this maniac decide to go to school and kill those kids; when he already killed his mom? I could understand a little better if his mom was at school and he went there to kill her and in the panic; decided to murder everyone else.

Maybe he had some revenge fantasies revolving around kids the age he was when he was getting teased/taunted. All speculation, of course, but I imagine he'd focus on that, and maybe project a general hatred of kids that age.

If true; that's fucked up because he was the one that had the end all bullying by killing the victims and the bullies. Some people just don't look outside the box.

It's that they can't come to grips with the teasing, project all that hatred on every six-year-old, and lash out. Not having a good mechanism for self-reflection just puts that hatred on a positive feedback loop where it gets louder and louder.

Of course, we'll never know... and I'm not pretending to know much beyond thinking about what was in my mind at that age and amping it up x10,000... or a million.

The understanding that you hadn't responded to a single point I had made in that post..and instead, that your overt reason for responding was to address a format issue (that, covertly, was likely known to be unnecessary i.e., I had, just prior to the post quoted, already used the quoting feature mentioned).

Sure I'm aware of sayings and uses and other useful forms of rhetoric, but I'm not about to let you have it both ways: either you knew what I was up to or you didn't. I'm all about doing justice to your meaning, hence my response pointing out the problem.

Now which is it? Am I allowed to use a certain amount of ironic distance so others can apprehend the irony on their own? Or do I have to dumb everything down to your level?

This would be good to put in the terms of service by the way. Don't be pulling no Oregonlive crap, boy. I will take you over my knee.

Not as interesting as the fact that you apparently think that follows from what I said.

I don't know anything of the kind about you -- I only know a few of your habits of mind based on a few brief text encounters.

I said "if." It's a conditional ... upon me having whatever skills you possess. I was expressing a relationship I believe exists between what you do and what your skills are. I'm also indicating a similar relationship with regard to your lived experience and education bearing on how and what you think. That has nothing to do with me knowing the various contents of your life.

Its weird to me that the shooters aunt said that the mom was very paranoid about the economy which is why she loaded up on guns. I wonder if she fed her son with the wacky ideas. Seriously, worried about the economy so you load up with assault rifles? Sounds like he didn't grow up in very sane living conditions.

Often times mental illness is hereditary.

certain ones, yes. What is difficult, at times, is that some people who are struggling with or have a mental illness, don't know it. to them, that is what is normal.

That is not always the case of course, a few people I have worked with knew the demons they saw weren't real when they were talking to me or other people, but that didn't stop them from seeing them or believing them.

This one person, in particular, did something to counter the visions. One thing he did was isolate himself from people (for whatever reason, that worked for him), and say a little saying to himself. Although I'm not comfortable calling his issues an illness, as his came about from a traumatic brain he suffered in his youth. Not entirely certain what to call it, mental disability sounds closer.

if he were to have children, I'm not sure it would be a genetic trait or characteristic that could be passed on to his children. His disability wasn't in his DNA.
