    Someone just tell me when they're done with this. If "Pelicans" wasn't official, than these aren't either, given that the NBA could technically apply for trademarks on more names.

    Imo, they should go with the Krewe. It's a unique name with positive imagery that links them to directly to the city.

    Also, I dig the color scheme, but it'd be cool to see them go with the purple, gold, and green color scheme full-time -

    About 17 years ago, the NJ Nets seriously considered changing their name to the Swamp Dragons. Don't know why they changed their mind.

    does anybody remember the names the thunder trademarked at first? i seem to remember "thunder" being the worst one of the bunch, and then they chose it anyways

    You might be right because.... "Bennett said the decision on the name had been made "quite some time" ago. He said the names on the trademark applications weren't finalists, and he wouldn't reveal what other names got serious consideration." ... which doesn't make much sense.

    Swamp Dogs is a nickname for Alligators, so that makes sense

    Rougarou would be awesome, but most people around the country would always mispronounce it and have no idea what it is

    Skeeters would have been better than Mosquitoes

    Bull Sharks would get played upon too much cause it sounds like Bull Shit
