With this team easily exceeding expectations should we actually try to improve our bench "modestly" THIS YEAR, as opposed to the "staying the course" plan? I am realistic and realize no MAJOR change is likely, however should we perhaps try to get a better backup PG and maybe one other. I know we don't have a lot to work with but at least upgrading over Price seems doable. Whaddya think?

We definitely need a better pg backup regardless of what plan we take. If there is an opportunity to grab one, then we need to get him. The sooner the better too, since it would be good for this player to learn the system before next season. I really wanted jack, but I think we have a shot trading for Heinrich. We would probably need to give up Babbitt as the main trading piece though. Would you be willing?

    This would be the trade.

    Why Chicago does it?
They need a outside shooter and Babbitt is that shooter. They also have two expiring contracts so they could easily fold if the deal didn't pan out for them.

    Why would we do it?
We get a legit back up at sg, and not have to focus on one this summer. Hienrich can play both pg,sg, which helps us in case we have an injury on our back court. The deal doesn't ding us that badly this summer, even if we still resign hickson. We would still have max mle to offer for another player.

Heinrich would be the type of back up that would work that would allow Lillard a few minutes at the 2. (For certain matchups) He has one more year after this on his contract. But I hate giving up Babbitt if the Blazers think they can resign Luke long term. I like what he brings at the stretch 4.

Either way we are talking role players here. I still would prefer to take a chance on Delonte West and keep Babbitt.

I like west too but I suspect his character issues may be a concern. Personally I don't mind, but our media would be watching him like a hawk. I bet they would love to have another questionable character to fuck with during the season.

I would bring in Delonte for the minimum. That way it would be easy to cut bait if it didn't work out.

Not even for playoffs just to give out starters legit rest. They can't keep going like this. It's time front office stepped up and give starters a break. This bench is laughing stock of nba. Embarrassing.

What we're doing is working. Why mess with something that's working?

Adding a player that can legitimately back up Lillard at pg will work better.

Don't trade Babbitt. Get Delonte West. Bipolar disorder isn't a character flaw. It's an illness. Sign him to the minimum and insist he get help. Get Kenyon too.

We are not good enough to warrant cashing in wins tomorrow for wins today. Are any of these moves going to be enough to get us into the western conformance finals, or even second round of the playoffs? Nope, they aren't. So although I get physical pains every time i see Price enter the game, this is our hand this season. But we will be in a much better position next season having given Olshey as many chips as possible to work with.

Well he is right. The guy may have other character flaws, but Bipolar disorder is an illness and can be treated with medication.

Medication only helps a part of the disorder. He will probably need to see a therapist/psychologist on a frequent basis. He'll get a chance to provide a team with help. However, our team is loaded with young players. We don't need a "problem child" at this point of the development process.

I would like to see our team decrease the playing time slightly for Damian. He's been playing a heavy load of minutes as a rookie.

I'm hoping our team will sign Jarrett Jack in the off season. He would help at the 1 & 2 as a combo bench player. This would also enable us to use a variety of lineups, such as Jack at the 2, Wes at 3, Batum at 4, and LA at 5.

The top priority of the season is the development of our star pg, Damian Lillard. We need guys capable of doing a competent job as a back-up pg. Price is ok and Nolan sucks. We should at least find a replacement for Nolan.
