He deserves consideration but one of either Parker or Curry might not even make the All-Star game this year. There is too many Guards having a good year in front of him.
one of either curry or curry might not make it. parker is a lock. lillard has zero chance to be selected by coaches. he could be an injury replacement.
He's a long shot for one of the wildcard spots....but I don't see it happening. He'd have to have quite a few more of those 37 point performances and I don't know if he has that in him.
he's also fighting kobe and harden since it's based on generic guard. at best he's 7th in line for one of 5 spots, and that's ignoring dragic, conley, ginobili, crawford etc
Is that how it works? I've always understood it that the bench was filled with seven coach selected players regardless of position. Like last year's East squad, for example, had the traditional G-G-F-F-C starting lineup, but the bench had 2 G's, 4 F's, and a C. Either way, this isn't Lillard's year. I was looking at NBA TV's projections out West, and it's extremely competitive. It looks like there will be no Jazz represented (not even Al Jeff... snubbed again), Gasol will likely be left off (even though he's the most deserving of the Grizz), and either Tony Parker or Steph Curry will get snubbed. If Lillard were playing out East though,...
I think he's got a great shot going forward of being a perennial All-Star, but most likely not this year. Paul (voted in) Westbrook Parker I think those will be the three point guards.
I don't see it happening without injuries ahead of him. Paul, Parker, Westbrook, Curry will all get more consideration than Lillard will.
coaches vote 2 guards, 3 F/C, 2 wildcards in principal it's possible for the coaches to have a split opinion and collectively vote in guards as both WCs, but doesn't seem likely this year since there are 3 clear top choices (harden, westbrook, parker) and then a big drop off to curry/lillard etc.
A lot of you are forgetting Lin. He's consistentily ahead of everyone but Kobe/CP in voting. I don't think Dame deserves to this year, tbh. His FG% is crap, and a lot of his production stems from his high USG% and mpg. In the future when he improves his efficiency and we get more wins, sure, but not now.
not forgetting, just assuming he's not quite going to have enough to pass kobe/paul now that paul is in LA, even with the asian vote. you are right that's not a sure thing.
LMA will be the All-Star Batum and Lillard should get consideration, but neither should make it. Still, being just below All-Star level for a 22 year-old rookie and a 24 year-old vet is pretty nice when you consider they are on the same team with a 27 year-old soon-to-be 2-time All-Star.
I agree those guys are ahead of lillard, but no way in hell is dragic close to him this year. Lillard is #7
