The coaches vote for the players. Not the people in management. I would think that you would know this simple fact?

Suddenly, the Isiah Thomas straw man has taken over this thread.

    By a "Commissioner", no less.

And there's the rub. If you think Marbury and Francis were superstars when they went to NYK, then I don't know what to tell you.

Francis before he went to NYK: 16/5/5 on 43% shooting, after a 14/5/4 the year before. If he would've believed in PER, he could've seen the drop from his prime of 18-21 to a 15 when they traded for him. But hey, anytime you can pay a guy over 15 million to be at league average and declining hard, you almost have to, right?

Marbury was great for NYK in 2004-05. Then Isiah decided that if one ballhogging PG who didn't play D was good, two were better. They were superstars, donchaknow? Unfortunately for Starbury, his PER went from 21 to 16 to 13 to 4 to China.

Yeah I see no relevance on a gm voting that Aldridge is better than lee and gasol. Thomas was a coach, which applies, but khan or other gm stiffs aren't. And another example of a bad gm is mchale, but he's a pretty damn good coach.

    Does seem a little strawman

    No rub, just a mistake.

There was another gm that did the same thing a few times. His name was bob whitsett, who's track record made the playoffs each and every year he gm'd in Portland. But alas, he traded jerm for dale Davis, moved grant and everything else to only find bodies to compete with the lakers.

Is he a bad gm? Was bringing in smith and pippen past their prime a bad idea?

Are you kidding? The Francis trade was widely panned at the time, and I think very few Knicks fans want that scrub anywhere near their organization. He wasn't anywhere near his prime, but he was payed like a superstar. it was a horrible trade.

The Curry trade was horrible as well. He dealt two lotto picks for a guy that never lived up to the expectations. Marbury never worked out for them either.

We aren't talking hindsight. These moves were mocked at the time they were made. Zach Randolph didn't pull his head out of his ass until he was literally dumped for nothing by the Knicks and Clippers.

I just think it's hilarious that you think Balkman was a "great pick". That's amusing.

Isiah picked All-Stars. Hollins picked All-Stars (presumably based on "heart, toughness, courage" etc.?). Vinny del Negro picks All-Stars. Talent Evaluator Extraordinaire Nate McMillan picked all-Stars for a decade.

John Nash was a terrible GM!!!

I sure wouldn't want him voting for All-Stars!!

Oh wait, GMs don't vote for All-Stars.

He's a 'commissioner' on S2. He knows more than Jerry West.

OMG mags.... seriously? Is that what I said? No.

    And then you said

I said that there are some coaches, at least historically, that I don't think should be picking All-Star teams. Isiah Thomas being pretty fuckin high on that list. You decided to defend Thomas so I had to show you the error in your ways. He's obviously a horrible talent evaluator if you look at his decision making. I definitely think there are people on this board that could do a better job than Isiah Thomas.

Why does everything have to turn into a personal attack with you? Are you incapable of carrying on a civil debate about basketball?
