Our bench can be overhauled quickly though while still signing a 13 mm type player (Pekovic for example)

That would still leave us 4 mm or so to grab a back up, plus our draft pick (if we have one) we would have Leonard, Barton with another year of experience, a 4 mm player would be an upgrade over Price, for example and a nice draft pick

Hickson is the starter, and to sign a big time player you lose him. I thought I would say it before one of them did :)

That works for me however the Free Agent SG list this year is horrible.

    Here are the best:
    Mayo
    Kevin Martin
    JJ Redick
    Nick Young

    and that is about it...

I guess I'm thinking of Leonard being the "starter" in this scenario since Hickson clearly isn't in this team's long term plans as a starting five.

I think SGs in general in the league are just unobtainable, or not a huge upgrade. Another option is always acquiring a SF, and sliding Batum over to SG.

Yes I would love to pull of that option instead but who do you have in mind? Easier said then done obviously.

Probably the easiest option. SF (or PF) is the easiest position to fill in the NBA currently. SG is second hardest behind Center. Even PG is now easier to fill then it used to be. Batum has a high PER (in limited minutes) at SG.

I think it has more to do with Meyers not being in game shape because of his injury. I think his playing time and his effectiveness will both increase steadily over the next couple of weeks...
