A federal jury found Mohamed Osman Mohamud guilty Thursday of attempting to detonate a bomb during Portland's 2010 holiday tree-lighting ceremony.

The jury handed up its verdict after less than seven hours of deliberations in a trial that began Jan. 10 in a downtown courtroom just a few blocks from the scene of the crime.

Mohamud, a 21-year-old Somali American, was convicted of the only charge confronting him: trying to use a weapon of mass destruction. He faces a potential sentence of life in prison. The sentencing hearing was set for May 14.

Did anyone else follow this trial? I'm really surprised the jury came back this fast. Mo-Mo is a immature fucking idiot but the FBI went to him and set him up. Seemed like entrapment.

But you have to agree to put yourself in the trap for the entrapment to work.

You THINK he was? Really? He was set up by the FBI. But he could have backed out at any time.

Every year, Congressional committees hold hearings to decide on how much to raise the budgets of Homeland Security, FBI, etc.

The agency heads arrive, happy to be questioned, aglow with fresh incidents to reglory.

A couple of manufactured incidents per year keeps those dollars raining in.

Jury acted on the evidence presented.

That being said.... I can see the FBI pushed this along and encouraged it. I have no doubt they do this shit and push it on us. It's a way for them to gain power and control and look like they're protecting us. They bred him, in some sorts. But who's to say he wouldn't have found another way to actually commit this crime? He put himself in the position, and for that he's guilty.

Wait a second, he was charged with attempting to detonate a bomb, but there was no bomb, so how is he guilty exactly?

That's like asking, we invaded Iraq to overthrow Saddam, but his government was gone in less than a month, so what were we fighting for 10 years?

You're not supposed to ask. It's a house of mirrors, but not well-constructed, so many people see right through it like glass.

The government has staged 134 fake attacks in the last 12 years. They target people who aren't members of any group and who kept their anger to themselves until the informer begs them to get involved.

Did the FBI encourage this guy? Coax the crazy out of him? I don't know, but I do know that he was willing to kill or injure hundreds of people. Not a lot of sympathy from me.

    yeah, thats how it looks

whatevz, if you dont want to go to prison, dont press a button that you think is going to kill 1000 people

well unless you are in the military, then kill all you want...and i guess this guy could be considered "at war" with us, because of our "war on terror"...

    whatevz
