A must-watch for any basketball fan. If any fan of hoops hasn't watched this film, there is something wrong with your fandom, or you're too young to know what this movie means.
Exit Through the Gift Shop is a recent one that was pretty good. Any doc narrated/directed by Werner Herzog is a unique experience. Grizzly Man, for example.

Has everybody here seen Hoop Dreams? If not, you aren't a fan of hoops, at least at the molecular level.
I saw it when i was a kid. Loved it.. Sad neither guy made it to the nba. One of them made it to slamball at least
The other one became a minister last I heard (maybe about a year ago). And, yes, I'm sure everyone here knows and probably has seen Hoops Dreams. Great sports documentary but also a great documentary about poverty in an American inner city.
Some that I have liked: "Lucky" about the lottery; "Superheroes" about people who roll play as superheroes; "Monster Camp" abour some LARPers; "Bastards of the Party" about the history of inner city gangs; "King of Kong";
Another sports documentary I really liked is Up for Grabs about the dispute over t he Barry Bonds homerun ball.
Perhaps some of the younger posters here haven't seen it. It's been 20 years since it came out. You asked for documentaries, and I listed two. If you don't want people to comment, don't start the fucking thread.
I think the first time I watched it was in high school health class or something. I'm sure there's good fans of basketball out there that haven't seen it though.
Perhaps, because of your seeming additive comments? I've been an ardent fan of hoops for over 40 years, but have never seen Hoop Dreams.
Something that's not a good documentary is Oliver Stone's untold history of America. Factually incorrect and full of conspiracy theories.
