It's weird to think of him not being a good defender. He is 6'11" 290 lbs. LOoking at him and he looks like he's built like a tank. He may not block shots, but he should be good keeping other centers from backing you down in the paint.

I have watched a couple of games, and what he does well is clog the middle. He is not a shot blocker, but he does slightly alter the opponents offense because of his size

We could offer Leonard + a couple players for Pek. Saves Minny money, since they would have their center on a small rookie scale contract.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Just his size alone makes it hard for players to score in the paint.

While we certainly need someone who can keep other Cs from scoring at will, I think it's of even greater importance that we have a C who can deter other players from attempting to score in the paint. We need a C who can anchor a defense and knows how to rotate to stop someone from getting within 5' of the hoop - a true team-defender.

You think they would do it though? They seem to have plenty of guards. I was thinking they would want a center of some sort in return.

When we've played against Minny, Pek seemed to rotate pretty well. Just my observation though.

Alas I doubt Khan would ever deal with us.

I read somewhere that they're looking for a wing.

They could lose him for nothing this summer. And what they have are a lot of PG's, not SG's. This way they get an average at best SG who can spot up while Rubbio creates for him

Well they don't have a lot of centers though. IN fact, Pek is pretty much their only big man that could play center. I suspect they would want leonard too.

I wouldn't consider Pek a good defender. He is good at offensive rebounds and scoring down low. Also, for as big as Pek is, he gets dinged up every season.

If the Blazers are going to dump players to have cap to make a run at a player, then Pek makes sense. I would hate to see Blazers pull a Kahn and dump players just to make a run at Pek, and then have Minny match.

I hate Leonard, so no problem for me, but most like him, so simply say no thank you and offer him a deal this summer.

Portland doesn't have to dump players to make a run at him. Renouncing players who either don't move the needle, or make the record skip is all we need to do to have enough to sign him to a max deal if we so chose to do so

But if we could trade a Matthews and Leonard for Pek; we can still retain Hickson and have max MLE to offer someone like JJ Reddick this offseason.
