Lets just let the rookies get more playing time. Stop playing the starters at over 35+ minutes per game. Wow, to lose to Orlando on 2/10/13 was sad. I agree with Canzano, and lets just go with the season and I doubt we will get a good offer for JJ Hickson in the off season. Lets just let this season ride and get a better draft pick. Okay this was written in the beginning of February.

Basically you have Utah and Houston ahead of us. We would need to beat both of them out because I think the Lakers will still get one of those two spots. The other top 6 spots are pretty much rapped up IMO.

I think we could beat out Utah but not Houston. It will be interesting to see if Utah makes any trades. But like I said in November I see us being better than at least 10 other teams in the league. Giving us the 11 pick.

I'm fine with us not making the playoffs this year. We don't have the bench or the experience to get past the first round. I don't see any way that we could beat OKC, San Antonio, or LAC in a seven game series. So why go to the playoffs so we can be swept in the first round? I'd rather collect one final lotto pick (because I figure we won't be back in the lotto for a while) and use our cap space this summer to round out our roster.

First, thank you for providing enough text so we don't have to click on that douche bag's link.

My eye caught on the sentence: "Yup. The boss man sees it too." That's all I read. That's all I can stomach. I despise that smug condescending mother fucker.

RE the OP: I've been in the "play the youngins' and improve the team through the draft and free agency before it's too late because this is our last chance to do either for a long time" camp since the beginning of the season.

I don't care to know what the douche guzzler had to say about it.

First off, nothing personal Nate Dogg, but any time you say you agree with Canzano, you have to put "I'm an over-reactive ninny" on the end of the sentence. The first sentence of this quote reveals exactly what I'm talking about. The team can't "make it's mind up" whether it's a playoff team? If by "team" you mean Neil Olshey, he made his mind up at the start of the season that this wasn't going to be a playoff team. He stocked the bench with young rookies on cheap contracts in order to preserve cap space flexibility for next summer. Getting a lottery pick and having money to spend will let him transform the team into a definite playoff team and probable future contender.

Now, if by "team" you mean the coaching staff and players, they're competitors who are trying to win every game they can. They want to make the playoffs this season because that's why you play the NBA game. Those who say there's no point in making the playoffs this year because the Blazers can't win against the top teams in the West are missing the true main point. Players want to win, they want to view themselves as playing on a playoff-caliber team, they want to get the experience of playing in a playoff atmosphere, and they only care about next year next year.

The reality is that this team has too many flaws and isn't likely to make the playoffs despite their best intentions. I don't see Olshey abandoning his long range plan to make a deal by the deadline. That said, I hope the players keep playing as if they can make the playoffs for as long as it's mathematically possible. In doing so, they'll either overachieve and force Olshey to make some adjustments in his strategy or they'll simply be able to go into the offseason knowing that they gave it everything they had and will be even more hungry for success next season.

It's Neil's fault. Plain and simple. U can't give an nba team a bench this lousy. It's not fair to the starters or fans. His draft choice of Myers looks horrendous at this point. And after last night I wonder about lillard.

He needs a grand slam this summer. And btw full tank mode starts in Miami tomorrow. Just be happy we made it this far as far as being 500. Won't see it again till next November

Id like to see the rookies getting more playtime but id also like to see us try and win. I honestly dont give a rats ass if were a playoff or lottery team this year. What I want to see is a team that doesn't give up and a team that cares.

LOL. I help my 10 and 12 year old daughters with their homework pretty much every day. You are right. Their teachers would not accept that.

I agree about us being able to beat out Utah but not Houston. Not sure where the Lakers will end up. Even if the Blazers make the playoffs I just don't see them getting out of the 1st round. It would be fun though to see Lillard and a refreshed Batum balling in the postseason. Maybe it could give us some hope for next season. I say stay the course. Sure, try to get some of the young guys some run here and there, but with a new coach and a new system, might as well play this thing out and see where we end up. I don't see Stotts making a move this early to tank by playing rookies just to play rookies. There are minutes to be had. I would be okay with benching guys like Pavlovic and Jeffries who have no future on this team and kind of suck anyways.

First, you should be soundly ridiculed for saying you agree with anything Canzano says. Canzano's such a no-credibility rabble-rousing hack, Dwight Jaynes looked at him and said, "Damn, that rabble-rousing hack has no credibility..."

    Second, Go Blazers.
